Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) tasked with executing the Metro Rail Project in Chennai. CMRL is seeking applications from qualified and experienced candidates for the following positions, which are available on a deputation or contract basis

Salary Details

  • JGM / DGM - JGM - Rs. 1,45,000/- DGM - Rs. 1,25,000/-
  • DGM (Electrical & Mechanical) - Refer detailed employment notification for further details.
  • DM (Transport Planning), DM (Quality Assurance /Quality Control), AM (Quality Assurance /Quality Control) - DM Rs.75,000/-, AM Rs.62,000/-
  • Higher remuneration / Higher post shall be considered based on the past experience, performance in the interview, higher qualification, exceptional credentials and expertise in the relevant field. Salary is negotiable for deserving candidates.

Age, qualification & experience stipulated for the above post should be as on 04-09-2024 Age will be relaxed for deserving and experienced candidates.

Required Qualification and Experience

a) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (Underground - Design)

Requires a B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering (M.E/M.Tech preferred). 15 years of experience for JGM or 13 years for DGM in planning and design of viaducts, bridges, and multi-story buildings, including 8 years in metro projects. Familiarity with Indian & Euro codes and design software is preferred.

b) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (Elevated - Design) (02 Posts)

Requires a B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering (M.E/M.Tech preferred). 15 years of experience for JGM or 13 years for DGM in design of viaducts and elevated stations, including 8 years in metro projects. Knowledge of Indian & Euro codes and design software is preferred.

c) Joint General Manager / Deputy General Manager (PIMS) (01 Post)

Requires a B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Post-graduation desirable). 15 years for JGM or 13 years for DGM in project management with 7 years in ERP, SAP, and project management software. Experience in managing teams and familiarity with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CAD is required.

d) Deputy General Manager (Electrical & Mechanical) (01 Post)

Requires a B.E/B.Tech in ECE/EEE/Mechanical Engineering. Should be in JAG grade with 6 years or Group B with 10 years of experience in MEP systems for large infrastructure projects. Deputation options and maximum age of 45 years apply.

e) Deputy Manager (Transport Planning) (01 Post)

Requires an M.E/M.Tech in Transportation Planning/Engineering. 4 years of experience in transportation infrastructure projects and city-level studies. Duties include transport planning for metro operations and multi-modal integration.

f) Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager (QA/QC) (01 Post)

Requires a B.E/B.Tech in Civil Engineering. 4 years of experience for DM or 2 years for AM in QA/QC for metro or large infrastructure projects. Additional QA certification is advantageous.

Selection Process

The selection process includes two stages: an interview and a medical examination. Candidates will be evaluated on various aspects, including knowledge, skills, comprehension, attitude, aptitude, and physical fitness.

Medical Examination: CMRL will cover the costs of the initial medical examination. However, if a candidate requests an extension for joining, they will be responsible for the cost of a subsequent medical examination. Candidates must also cover their travel expenses for the medical test. Candidates who do not pass the medical examination will not be considered for alternative positions, and CMRL's decision in this regard will be final.

Payment of Application Fee

Unreserved & candidates falling under other category are required to pay/transfer a Nonrefundable fee of Rs.300/- and SC/ST are required to pay/transfer a non-refundable fee of Rs.50/- (for processing charge) through online payment through electronic mode to the below mentioned account and upload the NEFT/UPI payment receipt/acknowledgement details in the online application form.

How to Apply through Online & other instructions

a. Application Instructions:

Before applying, candidates should carefully read the advertisement and ensure they meet all eligibility criteria. Eligibility is provisional and will be verified only if the candidate is shortlisted. Eligible and interested candidates must apply online through the CMRL website at CMRL Careers.

b. Online Application Procedure:

  1. Registration: Candidates must register on the CMRL Career portal using a valid email address. This email will be used for all further communications from CMRL.

  2. Email Verification: After registration, a verification link will be sent to the candidate’s email. Candidates must click the link to authenticate their email address. Once verified, they will be redirected to the CMRL career page to log in and apply.

  3. Application Form: Candidates must complete all sections of the application form and upload the required documents as specified in the notification to validate the information provided.

c. Application Scrutiny: Shortlisting of candidates will be based on the documents and certificates uploaded during the online application. If any discrepancies or false information is found at any stage of the recruitment process, or if incorrect or fraudulent documents are submitted, the application will be rejected. Discrepancies discovered after appointment may lead to termination without notice.

d. No Hard Copies: Hard copy applications will not be accepted. Candidates should not send any physical documents to this office.
