Essential Educational Qualifications

Electronics & Communication Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering with 1st Division and valid NET/GATE qualification.
  • Or M.E/M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.

Computer Science:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science with 1st Division and valid NET/GATE qualification.
  • Or M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.

Chemical Engg / Rubber Technology / Polymer Technology / Nanotechnology / Materials Science:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Rubber Technology, Polymer Technology, Nanotechnology, or Materials Science with 1st Division and valid NET/GATE qualification.
  • Or M.E/M.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Rubber Technology, Polymer Technology, Nanotechnology, or Materials Science with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.

Basic Science (relevant to the subject/discipline):

  • Post graduate Degree in Basic Science with 1st Division and valid NET qualification.
  • Or ME/M.Tech in Oceanography, Ocean Technology, or Meteorology with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.

Mechanical Engineering:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 1st Division and valid NET/GATE qualification.
  • Or M.E/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.

Opto Electronics:

  • B.E/B.Tech in Opto Electronics with 1st Division and valid NET/GATE qualification.
  • Or M.E/M.Tech in Opto Electronics with 1st Division at both Graduate and Post Graduate levels.
  • Or Post graduate Degree in Basic Science (Opto Electronics) with 1st Division and valid NET qualification.

Basic Science (pertaining to the subject/discipline):

  • Post graduate Degree in Basic Science with 1st Division and valid NET qualification.

Salary

The Fellowships will initially be awarded for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension as per applicable rules. The monthly emoluments offered will be Rs. 37,000/- along with House Rent Allowance as per the rules applicable to the position.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for candidates is 28 years as of the closing date for receipt of applications. However, this limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) as per the norms of the Government of India. The closing date for receipt of applications will be 30 days after the publication of this Advertisement in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar.

Selection Process

  • The screening of applications will be conducted by a Screening Committee, and candidates who are shortlisted will be invited for an interview. The schedule of the interview will be communicated via email.
  • Therefore, it is essential for candidates to have an active email ID and to check it regularly until the selection process is completed.
  • Only those candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee will receive further communication regarding the selection procedure. Any form of canvassing will lead to disqualification of the candidature.
  • Following the interviews, a panel of candidates will be created for anticipated vacancies, valid for one year. However, inclusion in the panel does not guarantee a Fellowship offer, as this depends on vacancies arising during the year.
  • The Director of NPOL reserves the right to decide not to select any candidate if suitable candidates are not found.

How to apply

  • Candidates are required to download and complete the Application Form in the specified format, available on the website www.drdo.gov.in.
  • The signed hard copy of the Application Form must be submitted along with self-attested copies of certificates verifying educational qualifications, matriculation certificate or birth certificate (as proof of date of birth), GATE/NET scorecard (if applicable and valid as of the closing date of application), and caste certificate (if applicable).
  • These documents should be sent by post to: The Director, Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, Thrikkakara P.O., Kochi - 682 021
  • The envelope containing the application should be clearly superscribed with "Application for JRF 2024". Incomplete or partially filled applications, as well as those received after the closing date, will not be considered and may be rejected.
