Online applications are now open for interested and eligible candidates to apply for 177 Junior Clerk positions in the District Police Office (DPO) cadre of Odisha Police.

This recruitment process will follow the Odisha District Police Ministerial Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) as outlined in the District Police Offices Rules 2021, under Government of Odisha Notification No. 38061/D&A, dated October 29, 2021, and the Amendment Rules 2022, per Notification No. 34701/D&A, dated October 14, 2022.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Junior Clerk position, candidates must have passed the +2 Examination or possess an equivalent qualification, along with knowledge of basic computer skills.

Candidates with academic qualifications from Boards, Councils, or Institutions outside Odisha must provide the following documents during the verification process; failure to do so will result in ineligibility for selection:

  1. Proof of equivalence from any recognized Board, Council, or University in the State of Odisha.
  2. Affiliation documents for their institution to a recognized Board, Council, or University.

Salary

The pay scale for the Junior Clerk position is set at Rs. 5,200 - 20,200, with a Grade Pay of Rs. 1,900. This equates to a starting salary of Rs. 19,900 in Cell-1 of Level-4 of the Pay Matrix as per ORSP-2017.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 21 years old and not older than 38 years as of January 1, 2024.

Age Relaxation:

  • The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, and women candidates.
  • A relaxation of 10 years is available for candidates in the PwD category with a permanent disability of 40% or more, as well as for Ex-Servicemen based on their total service.
  • Additionally, Persons with Disabilities in the SC, ST, or SEBC categories are entitled to a cumulative age relaxation of 10 years due to their disability, in addition to the standard relaxation.

Selection Procedure

The competitive examination for the Junior Clerk position will include a Written Test and a Practical Skill Test on the computer. The examination standard for all subjects will be equivalent to that of the Higher Secondary Examination.

Examination Format:

  • The written test consists of two papers, both featuring Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions.
  • There will be no viva voce test.
  • Each incorrect answer will incur a penalty of 0.25 marks for negative marking.
