- Email Writing: Formal emails to the Principal of a school or editors of newspapers/magazines.
- Short Paragraph:
- Speech or debate type based on an outline provided.
- Length: 80 to 100 words.
- Short Writing Task:
- Dialogue or story based on given hints.
- Length: 80 to 100 words.
Grammar
- Topics Covered:
- Tenses: Present, Past, Future.
- Relative Pronouns: Who, Whom, Which, That.
- Determiners: Articles (a, an, the), Demonstratives (this, that, these, those), Possessives (my, your, his, her, its, our, their).
- Prepositions: In, on, at, by, for, with, among, between, etc.
Textbook & Supplementary Reader
Prose (Beehive)
- Comprehension:
- One passage from Beehive for comprehension (approximately 200 words).
- Questions test comprehension and knowledge of lexical items.
- Short Answer Type Questions:
- Three out of four questions (around 20-30 words each).
- Long Answer Type Questions:
- One out of two questions (around 80 words each).
- Drama Text:
- One out of two questions on drama text (local and global comprehension) in about 40 words.
Poetry (Beehive)
- Comprehension:
- One out of two extracts based on prescribed poems to test comprehension and appreciation.
- Two questions on interpretation of themes and ideas of the prescribed poems (short answer type, around 20-30 words each).
- One out of two long answer type questions on the interpretation of themes and ideas contained in the poems (around 80 words).
Supplementary Reader (Moments)
- Long Answer Type Questions:
- One out of two questions regarding characters, plot, or situations occurring in the lessons (around 80 words).
- Short Answer Type Questions:
- Two out of four questions (around 60 words each).
- Multiple Choice Questions:
- Four MCQs testing factual aspects of the lesson.
