Tier I and II Exam Pattern
Selection Process
The selection process for SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam typically involves three stages:
Tier I: Computer Based Examination (CBE):
- This is the initial stage of the exam and is conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT).
- It consists of objective-type questions covering subjects like General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.
- Candidates must clear Tier I to qualify for Tier II.
Tier II: Descriptive Paper:
- Candidates who qualify for Tier I are eligible to appear for Tier II.
- It is a descriptive paper conducted in pen and paper mode.
- This paper tests candidates' writing skills and comprises an essay and letter/application writing.
Tier III: Skill Test/Typing Test:
- This stage assesses candidates' typing speed and accuracy for the posts of Data Entry Operator (DEO) and typing speed for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA).
- The skill test is conducted for DEO posts, and the typing test is conducted for LDC/JSA posts.
Candidates are selected based on their performance in all three tiers. The final selection is made according to the merit list generated after considering the marks obtained in Tier I and Tier II. Candidates who qualify Tier III (Skill Test/Typing Test) are then recommended for appointment by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) based on their overall performance.
