Applications are invited exclusively through online mode for direct recruitment to the position of Assistant Public Prosecutor, Grade II, in the Prosecution Department.
Educational Qualification

Educational Qualification: Must possess a B.L. degree from a university or institution recognized by the University Grants Commission for this purpose.

Bar Membership and Experience: Must be a member of the Bar with at least 5 years of active practice in Criminal Courts. This includes any time served as a temporary Assistant Public Prosecutor, Grade II.

Knowledge of Tamil: Applicants must have adequate knowledge of Tamil. This is defined as having passed the S.S.L.C. Public Examination or an equivalent examination with Tamil as a subject in the High School Course (in Tamil Medium), or having passed the Second Class Language Test in Tamil conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Age Limit
Candidates must be at least 26 years old to apply.
For those not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, and BCMs:
- Maximum Age Limit: 36 years (must not have completed)
- Age Concessions:
- Persons with Benchmark Disability: Up to 46 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Up to 50 years
- Destitute Widow: No maximum age limit
For BC (OBCM)s, BCMs, MBCs/DCs, SCs, SC(A)s, and STs:
- Maximum Age Limit: No maximum age limit
- Age Concessions:
- Persons with Benchmark Disability: No maximum age limit
- Ex-Servicemen: No maximum age limit
- Destitute Widow: No maximum age limit
Examination Fee
- The preliminary examination fee of ₹100 (Rupees One Hundred only) must be paid when submitting the online application for this recruitment, unless a fee exemption is claimed.
- Candidates who are shortlisted for the Main Written Examination and have not claimed a fee exemption will need to pay a main examination fee of ₹200 (Rupees Two Hundred only) upon receiving notification from the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Selection Procedure
- Preliminary Examination: This serves as a screening test to select candidates for the Main Examination. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be included in the final merit list for those qualified to proceed to the Main Examination.
- Main Examination: This includes both a Written Examination and an Interview. The Main Written Examination consists of five papers as specified in the notification.
- Paper-I will be qualifying in nature, meaning candidates must pass it to proceed.
- The marks from Paper II, Paper III, Paper IV, and Paper V, along with the marks from the Interview, will be considered for the final ranking of candidates.
Application Procedure
- Candidates must apply online via the Commission’s websites, www.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpscexams.in.
- First, they need to register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the website before proceeding to fill out the online application for the examination.
- If a candidate is already registered, they can directly fill out the application.
- The Application Correction Window will be open for three days, from October 16, 2024, to October 18, 2024, allowing candidates to edit their online application details.
- No modifications will be permitted after this correction period ends.
