Required Experience

The required experience for the Assistant Manager positions at UCSL includes:

  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification managerial experience.
  • Experience must be in shipbuilding, ship repair, engineering companies, offshore platforms, marine-related engineering firms, or government/semi-government establishments.
  • For Assistant Manager (Mechanical): Experience in areas such as planning, hull fabrication, erection, and commissioning of machinery and piping systems.
  • For Assistant Manager (Electrical): Experience in installation, commissioning/repair of communication systems, navigation systems, control and automation systems, power systems, and lighting systems.
  • Desirable experience includes working in ERP systems like SAP, MS Project, or similar computerized environments.

  • Pay Scale: ₹40,000 - ₹1,40,000 per month

Place of Posting

  • The posting will primarily be at the UCSL Malpe Unit or any other UCSL units/project sites as determined by UCSL. Depending on project requirements, candidates may be transferred within different units of UCSL or assigned to onboard ships, various work sites, or projects in India or abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Assistant Manager (Mechanical):

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University.
  • Assistant Manager (Electrical):

    • Degree in Electrical Engineering with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University.

Age Limit:

  • The upper age limit for candidates applying for the Assistant Manager positions at UCSL shall not exceed 30 years as of June 26, 2024.
  • Age relaxation:

    • 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
    • Up to 5 years for Ex-servicemen, subject to a maximum age not exceeding 35 years after applying all relaxations.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Assistant Manager positions at UCSL involves several stages:

Objective Type Test:

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Marks: 40
  • Subjects: General Knowledge, General English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and Subject Based.

Descriptive Type Test:

  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Marks: 30
  • Subjects: Subject-based questions related to the respective discipline.

Group Discussion:

  • Marks: 10

Personal Interview:

  • Marks: 20

Final Selection:

  • The final selection is based on the aggregate marks secured in the Objective Type Test, Descriptive Type Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interview.
  • A merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained by candidates.

Criteria:

  • Minimum pass marks:
  • Unreserved posts: 50% of total marks for each test.
  • OBC Candidates (for reserved vacancies): 45% of total marks for each test.
  • Candidates shortlisted from the Objective Type Test will proceed to the Descriptive Type Test and further stages based on merit.

Location:

  • Selection tests may be conducted at UCSL Malpe depending on the number of applications received.

Interview Mode:

  • Group Discussion and Personal Interview may be conducted at UCSL Malpe or via electronic media, depending on circumstances.
