Before We Go Plot Summary

While performing as a street musician in Grand Central Terminal, Nick Vaughan, played by Chris Evans, witnesses Brooke Dalton, portrayed by Alice Eve, dropping her phone while running to catch a train. Despite her missed train, Nick returns her broken phone when she returns to the station. However, Brooke confesses to being robbed and is unable to leave the city.

Nick offers to pay for a cab to take her to Boston, but his debit and credit cards are declined. He suggests finding her purse, which was stolen, and they track it down at a sweatshop that deals with stolen purses. Nick enters to retrieve the purse while Brooke uses a payphone to call her husband. After the phone call, she asks two police officers to investigate the building Nick is in.

The sweatshop owners run off with the bag, leaving Nick and Brooke to search for money at a friend's wedding, where they are mistaken for members of the band and perform before fleeing. Their last-ditch attempt to get a bus to Boston fails, but Brooke borrows a man's phone to call a friend and arrange to retrieve a letter she left for her husband.

Brooke offers to pretend to be Nick's girlfriend at his friend's wedding, where he meets his ex, Hannah. After the wedding, Brooke reveals to Nick that her husband was cheating on her but ended the relationship. She wrote him a letter ending their marriage, but he changed his mind and was coming home early.

At a restaurant, Nick advises Brooke to explain herself to her husband, but she tries to leave for the airport instead. Nick follows, and they argue before going to his friend's hotel room. They kiss and reflect on the night's events before parting ways the next day. Brooke discovers a message from Nick on the back of their hotel guest service paper and smiles.
