Originally from Brazil, Jorginho moved to Italy at the age of 15, kickstarting his professional career with the Hellas Verona youth team before being promoted to the senior squad. During the 2010–11 season, he was loaned to Sambonifacese.

In January 2014, he transferred to Napoli, where he quickly achieved success by winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana. He accumulated 160 appearances for Napoli before making a move to Chelsea in 2018.
