Supporting roles are played by Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols, and Nell Fisher in her film debut. The film premiered on March 15, 2023, at South by Southwest before being released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on April 21, 2023.

Evil Dead Rise Ending Explained

After Beth and Kassie leave, the malevolent spirit remains present and possesses a woman named Jessica, who is on her way to a cabin with her friends by a lake. The film opens with her attacking and mutilating her companions, drawing inspiration from The Evil Dead and Evil Dead.

This scene provides a backstory for Jessica's violent behavior and serves as the conclusion to the film, emphasizing the gravity of Danny's error beyond mere homage or nostalgia for the past. Although Danny is not portrayed as a villain, his mistake has serious consequences.

Had he heeded the siblings' advice and refrained from breaking into a church vault in their building during the earthquake in the first act, none of the events would have transpired. Despite recordings of a priest warning about the dangers within the new Necronomicon and its monstrous presence, which includes drawing blood with its teeth and depicting Hell, Danny still reads from it. Even worse, he conceals possession of Ellie's body until it is too late, exacerbating the situation.

Does Evil Dead Rise have a Post Credits Scene?

In contrast to its forerunner, Evil Dead Rise does not have an after-credits scene. Although many viewers expected one to connect the story to previous movies or set up a sequel, the story of Lee Cronin’s horror film concludes before the credits begin. Nonetheless, it is worth staying to acknowledge the immense effort required to produce such a gruesome movie.

While the 2013 Evil Dead film had a post-credits scene, it was fairly insignificant and mainly served as a way of including Ash Williams’ famous catchphrase "Groovy" in the remake. However, this humorous yet bloody tone is characteristic of the Evil Dead franchise.

There were even plans for a crossover with Ash and Mia, the survivor from Evil Dead (2013), making Campbell’s quick credits stinger a teaser for what could have been. Therefore, it is somewhat disappointing that Evil Dead Rise does not contain an end-credits scene that pays homage to other franchise characters.

Evil Dead Rise Plot

While on vacation at a lakeside cabin, friends Teresa, Caleb, and Jessica are met with terror when an apparently possessed Jessica scalps Teresa and decapitates Caleb using a drone before levitating in front of Teresa. A day earlier, Beth visits her sister Ellie, a single mother, in her apartment complex along with her children.

An earthquake hits, creating a massive hole in the parking lot that reveals religious artifacts, including the Book of the Dead, which Danny takes up to his room. As they play the recordings on the record, a demonic entity is unleashed, attacking and possessing Ellie. Beth, Danny, Bridget, and Kassie lock Ellie out of the apartment, but she returns and kills the neighbors in the hallway.

Bridget becomes possessed and attacks Danny and Kassie, but they seemingly kill her. However, Ellie, Danny, Bridget, and the possessed neighbors combine to form a spider-like creature that chases Beth and Kassie. They use a chainsaw to force the creature into a wood chipper, killing it, and finally escaping the building. The next day, Jessica discovers the bloodied wood chipper and is attacked by an unseen demon.
