Final Fantasy 14

Final Fantasy XIV is an online game made by Square Enix. It didn't do well at first, but they made big improvements. The game is set in a make-believe land called Eorzea, recovering from a big disaster. Players fight against the Garlean Empire's renewed attack.

The first version of the game didn't do well, so a new team led by Yoshida took over. They fixed many problems and even made a whole new game, "Version 2.0". The old version closed, and the new one got positive feedback. It helped Square Enix's finances and became very successful.

As of October 2021, it had over 24 million players, making it the most profitable Final Fantasy game. The game has had many updates, including five major expansions: Heavensward (2015), Stormblood (2017), Shadowbringers (2019), Endwalker (2021), and Dawntrail (2024).

Final Fantasy 14 Gameplay

In Final Fantasy XIV, players enter a big world where they can meet and play with others. They create characters with different looks and abilities. In the beginning, players can choose to be fighters or magic users. Players also pick a server to play on. Even if they speak different languages, the game helps them understand each other.

The game can be played on a computer, and also on game consoles. Players can use a keyboard, mouse, or game controller. The screen shows important information like messages, maps, and special abilities. Players can also change how this information is displayed.

To get better in the game, players need experience points (EXP) and stronger gear. When they gain enough EXP, their character gets stronger. They can also learn new abilities. Players earn EXP by doing quests, exploring dungeons, and fighting monsters.

Players can also fight against each other in special battles. One type is called "The Feast," where teams of four fight against each other. Another type is "Frontlines," where big teams compete to get points. There's also "Rival Wings," where players control minions and mechs to destroy the enemy's stuff.

Teams have different roles like tank, healer, and damage dealer. They need to work together to beat tough enemies. There are also special powerful moves that need teamwork to use.

Players can join "Free Companies," which are like player-run groups. They can buy houses, decorate them, and do special activities together. There's also a system called "Linkshells" where players can chat with smaller groups.

Characters can change their abilities by changing their weapons. There are different types of jobs, like warriors or mages, and they have their own special abilities and gear. Players can also craft and gather items to sell or use for themselves. The game's economy depends a lot on what players do, like gathering resources or making items.

Final Fantasy 14 Plot

Final Fantasy XIV takes place in a make-believe world called Hydaelyn, mainly in a region named Eorzea. Eorzea has four major cities: Gridania in a dense forest, Ul'dah in a desert, Limsa Lominsa on an island, and Ishgard in snowy mountains. There's also a land bridge connecting Eorzea to two other continents, controlled by the powerful Garlean Empire. In addition to city-states, there are different groups like indigenous tribes, scholars in Sharlayan, and Ala Mhigo, a region taken over by the Garleans. Ishgard withdrew from the Eorzean Alliance due to Garlean threats, causing the Alliance to break. The Mor Dhona region was severely affected by a previous Garlean attack.

Eorzean history is divided into good times called "Astral" eras and bad times known as "Umbral" eras, caused by major Calamities. The First Umbral Era marked the end of the age of gods, when the Twelve, guardian deities, stopped interacting with mortals. The Allagan Empire in the Third Astral era reached high levels of technology, including space travel. The Sixth Astral Era was supposed to last forever, but five years ago, the Garleans caused the Seventh Umbral Calamity.

Garlean scientists turned the smaller moon Dalamud into a weapon in Project Meteor. Led by Legatus Nael van Darnus, they planned to crash Dalamud into Eorzea, wiping out all opposition. The Alliance gathered their armies and adventurers fought van Darnus, but they couldn't stop Dalamud. In the Battle of Carteneau Flats, Dalamud revealed itself as an ancient prison for the powerful dragon Bahamut. His escape triggered the Seventh Umbral Calamity. Louisoix Leveilleur tried to seal Bahamut, but failed. He sacrificed himself to weaken Bahamut and sent the adventurers forward in time to be of help when needed. Meanwhile, the Garlean Empire faced a crisis as their elderly Emperor Solus fell ill.
