Google Meet is a video-communication service developed by Google. It is one of two apps that constitute the replacement for Google Hangouts, the other being Google Chat. It replaced the consumer-facing Google Duo in late 2022, with the Duo mobile app being renamed Meet and the original Meet app set to be phased out. In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Google announced Meet was to be made available to all users, not just Google Workspace users, as it previously was.

Google Meet Camera Not Working     

 You can change the setting to allow Meet to use your camera and microphone, by clicking on the camera icon in the address bar and selecting the Always allow option.

  • Confirm your camera is connected.
  • Make sure no other apps are currently accessing your camera.
  • If you have more than one camera installed, ensure that the camera you want to use is turned on.
  • Enable camera before you join the meeting.
  • Double-check that your camera is connected.
  • Check that no other apps are currently using your camera. 
  • If you have multiple cameras installed, make sure the one you want to use is turned on.
  • Make sure that you are using the recent version of Google Meet.

How To Fix Google Meet Camera Not Working?        

  • Click Privacy.
  • On the left, click Screen recording.
  • In the window, enter your password and click unlock.
  • On the right, check the Google Chrome or Firefox box. 
  • Next, click on “Privacy.”
  • Then, select Change, located under “Allow access to the camera on this device.”
  • To enable camera access on this device, toggle the toggle switch to On.
  • From the Camera settings, turn on "Allow apps to access your camera. 
  • Choose which Microsoft apps can access your camera and turn on the Google Meet app. 

For Microphone Access 

  • Select the  Start menu, and then select Settings > Privacy. 
  • Click on the Microphone.
  • Select Change and then click on the Allow access to the microphone on this device.
  • Now turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.

Allow Access To Camera On Your Computer 

  • Press the Windows logo key and I on the keyboard to launch Settings. Then select Privacy. 
  • Scroll down and click on "Camera." 
  • Click Change and make sure your device's camera access is turned on. 
  • Turn on “Allow” apps to access your camera. 

Grant Camera Access From Browser Settings 

  • Copy and paste chrome://settings/content/camera into your Chrome address bar. 
  • Then check if you have chosen sites that can ask you to use your camera. 
  • Click "Allow meet.google.com to use your microphone and camera. 
  • Copy and paste chrome://settings/content/camera into your Chrome address bar. 
  • Check if you have allowed the Google Meet website to use your camera in Chrome's settings. 

Update Your Camera Driver 

  • Install Driver Easy after downloading it.
  • Click the Update button next to the flagged camera driver to automatically download the correct version of that driver, then you can manually install it.
  • Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Check Your Internet Bandwidth 

  • Right-click the taskbar and click Task Manager. 
  • Select the Performance tab and click Ethernet.

Check Your Antivirus Apps   

  • If you have installed those antivirus programs, 
  • check their settings for web protection. 
  • If they have the "Block Access to Webcam for All Applications" option, uncheck it. 
  • Or you can temporarily disable them and then you can check if this software has a negative impact on your use of the camera. 

Restart Computer Or Browser     

Computer issues like software conflicts are likely to cause malfunctions on your webcam. Now restarting your machine is always the easiest way to troubleshoot problems. 

Disable MediaFoundation Video Capture In Chrome      

  • Copy and paste chrome://flags/#enable-media-foundation-video-capture on your Chrome browser address bar.
  • Click "Disable" from the drop-down list. 
  • Relaunch your browser and you can check your camera access.
