How To: Defeat Nezarec in the Root of Nightmares Raid 

The Root of Nightmares raid in Destiny 2 pits the game's most skilled players against an enigmatic foe, Nezarec, who is a Tormenter and a disciple of the Witness. In season 19, players used relics connected to Nezarec to awaken Osiris, but now they must face him as a formidable enemy with powerful attacks and endurance. Nezarec's name and artifacts are familiar to players, including the Nezarec’s Sin Warlock helmet, the Nezarec’s Whisper glaive, and the Delicate Tomb arc fusion rifle. During the Season of Plunder, players gathered parts of Nezarec's body to prevent Eramis from using them against the Light, and Mithrax combined these relics to awaken Osiris. However, Guardians were aware of the risks of using Nezarec's Darkness powers. Bungie has hinted that Nezarec could be the final raid boss, with players reporting hearing voice lines from Nezarec around Neomuna while using Nezarec-linked weapons.

How To: Defeat Nezarec in the Root of Nightmares Raid - Destiny 2 Guide

• In the Nezarec boss fight, the team should split into three groups of two.Two players will be on the left side, two on the right, and two flexible players in the middle of the arena. 
• The players on the left and right will connect nodes in a zigzag line pattern until they reach the final node at the far end of the arena. 
• To connect the nodes, players need to shoot the orb with mist around it, which will grant them the buff of either Field of Light or Field of Dark, depending on their side.
• After getting the buff, players need to go either left or right, depending on the run, and then zigzag from left to right until all nodes are completed. 
• The orb that forms on the node when players shoot it will plant a new node at that location and consume the Field of Light or Dark buff. Players then need to get the buff again and continue until all nodes are completed.
• Nezarec will wipe the team if they are too slow, so it's best to have two players doing this to speed things up. However, players should not take the buff again until after the other player who currently has the buff shoots to make the new node. The node where players grab the buff will also be moving forward as they plant new nodes.
• While this is happening, the two players in the middle of the arena should focus on the boss. During the beginning of the encounter, Nezarec will target players with Nezarec's Hatred, which will damage them and launch them into the air, making it hard to plant nodes. 
• To counter this, players should shoot Nezarec's critical spots on his shoulders and chest. Upon shooting these spots, Nezarec should stop applying Hatred to players and jump off his pedestal to enter the arena. From here, he will roam and attack players, so players should avoid him.
• Once all nodes are completed, the team can move on to damage. They can use the platform shown on screen to deal damage. 
• Nezarec will aggro the team for a few seconds and then become damageable. It's not clear if baiting slams or shooting his crits is necessary for damage, but the team can use Divinity, one Galley, Izzy, and Rockets for damage. They should also space out tethers for two thirty percent debuffs.
• Overall, damage is easy even in contest mode, but Divinity is essential for hitting shots since Nezarec is so close to the team. 
• After dealing damage, the team can repeat these mechanics, and nothing major happens during Final Stand. It's important to keep in mind that this guide was made after clearing for the first time, and there could be slight differences in the actual mechanics.
•  However, this guide should help players get to at least the 90th percentile, which is enough to clear the raid.
