The game's story happens between the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (2016), Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020), and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024). It follows the original series' main character, Kazuma Kiryu, as he goes on a new adventure in Osaka and Yokohama while pretending to be a secret agent.
