Nancy Drew Danger by Design Walkthrough

In her austere office, Nancy presents three objects: a Book for Detectives, the Case File, and a plane ticket. You can choose to read them to familiarize yourself with the game or start the game by clicking on the plane ticket and selecting either the Junior or Senior mode. Nancy is in Paris to work for Minette at her design studio, where she meets Heather McKay, Minette's senior assistant. Minette is acting erratically, and Nancy's task is to find out why. Nancy's workstation is on the right side of the studio, and she is expected to answer the phone.

When Nancy enters Minette's office, Minette instructs her to brew a cup of her special tea, which requires the following ingredients: Boojum, Breland, Callicula, Fennellery, Gibbering, Hog Bone, Macrophylla, Phyrigia, Pipsweet, Varvaine, and Yellow Buttons. After brewing the tea, Nancy must retrieve four items similar to those in the middle of the room; a blue drum, red hubcap, green pail, and orange bar stool. Nancy must also fix the plotter and answer a phone call from Lynn Manrique, who is researching Noisette Tornade.

After completing the puzzle, the dodo should move into its nest, and pressing the egg button unlocks a box containing several letters, including a purple note with unique lettering. Nancy explores Heather's desk, finding a fashion portfolio and a note asking her to pick up a stuffed parrot from Marchand for 5 euros. She heads to Pont Neuf to find Dieter, but he runs away. She collects an obituary and a miniature clock from where Dieter was sitting and buys the parrot from Marchand. As she enters the studio, she hears Minette scream about cockroaches in her office, and Nancy catches them all. She finds a letter from Lynn to Minette and a note from Heather on the computer desk. Nancy calls Lynn to learn about Noisette Tornade's activities during World War II and her last words of "red left green." She releases the cockroaches before visiting Dieter, who asks her to take some stock photos with his camera. Nancy finds a hidden passage by placing the miniature clock into the hole beside the fish tank, and she unlocks a combination lock using the year 1945. Inside, she finds a small red book and takes the graph paper before buying a code book from Marchand and a dictionary from Monique. Finally, Nancy takes a picture of the Cross of Lorraine and calls Zu to help decipher a sign in Dieter's house with JJ's autograph.

If you want to proceed through the game, you need to follow a series of steps. Start by walking up the stairs and picking up the pile of clothes, but be careful of the rat that may take Nancy's decoder book. Then leave Denfert Rochereau by heading forward, turning right, and crossing the plank. If the day ends at any time, read the newspaper on the table after Nancy awakes. Next, return to Marchand at Pont Neuf and give him the wine to get the decoder in exchange. Once you have the decoder, go to the design studio and look at Minette's door, where you'll find a bomb attached to it. Quickly defuse it by following the set of instructions. Use the decoder obtained from Marchand to decode the M380 and enter the code using your computer keyboard. Then, enter Minette's office and put the propeller key into the indentation in the column. Shift the colors on the bars to correspond to the decoded message. Head down the uncovered stairs and proceed through the passage until you reach a door, then use the key from the chest to unlock it. Find the pedestal in the middle of the room and open the glass case sitting on top of it. Read the letter found inside to learn the truth behind why Noisette did what she did. Decode the message found behind the steel bars using the decoder book and the three Roman numerals found under Noisette's initials in her letter. Use the decoded message to open the lock and return to the stairs to overhear a conversation between a couple of German men and Minette. It turns out that the whole thing was a setup, with the Germans wanting to bug the World Summit and Minette designing the dress for the First Lady.
