The Sims 4, a social simulation game developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, is the fourth installment in The Sims series. The game's monetization model changed to free-to-play on October 18, 2022, with various paid downloadable content packs available for purchase. Sims 4 Update Not Working
Investigate for Server Issue
- Check the servers of Origin using websites like DownDetector and Outage. Report
- If servers are experiencing issues, wait and check again later
Run as Admin
- Origin needs admin privileges to download and overwrite new game files
- Right-click on Origin app and select "Run as administrator" to fix permission issues
Repair Sims 4 via Origin
- Corrupted game files in the folder may be conflicting with new game files

Force the game to create a new Mods folder:
- Open File Explorer and go to Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4.
- Copy the Mods folder to your Desktop.
- Delete the Mods folder in the Sims 4 folder and start the game.
- Open the new and empty Mods folder in the Sim4 folder and the original one on your Desktop.
- Copy the content of each folder in the original Mods folder and paste them into a new folder.
- Copy the other contents of the original Mods folder to the new one.
- Open the game periodically or in batches to test certain Mods.
Repair the game:
- Open Origin and go to My Game Library.
- Right-click The Sims 4 and choose the Repair option.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair process.
- Start the game and check if the issue is resolved.
Clean boot your computer:
- Press Windows Key + R and enter msconfig.
- On the Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services and click Disable all.
- On the Startup tab, open Task Manager and disable each startup item.
- Close Task Manager, then click OK and restart the computer.

Delete the Origin cache files:
- Open File Explorer and go to C:UsersAppDataLocal and C:UsersAppDataRoaming.
- If you can’t find the AppData folder there, click the View tab and check the box for Hidden items.
- Delete the Origin folder there.
Deactivate Origin in-game:
- Open Origin and go to Application Settings and select Origin In Game.
- Uncheck Origin In Game.
How to Download The Sims 4 Infant Update?
- To get the Sims 4 Infant update on PC, you just need to log in to your EA play application and it will automatically download. However, it's a large update at 10.82 GB, so make sure you have enough storage space. If the download doesn't start, you can manually check for the update by clicking on the Sims 4 icon and selecting "check for update".
- For PlayStation 5, the update will also automatically download when you start the game with an internet connection. If you need to manually install it, go to the game's icon on your home menu, click "options", and select "check for update".
- On Xbox, go to "My Games & Apps", find the Sims 4 game in your library, and click "check for updates" by hovering over the game's thumbnail.
- However, for most players, the Sims 4 Infant update will install automatically as it's a free update to the base game that requires no action
