In the world of Azuma, players take on the role of a hunter tasked with tracking down massive monsters known as Kemono. While Azuma is not an open-world game, players are given several large areas to freely explore. To aid in their quest, players have access to eight different weapon types, including the likes of wagasa and katana, each with its unique strengths and weaknesses. Players can also build items to assist in combat through the Karakuri mechanic. These built items can range from crates that players can use to leap off of and deal massive damage to enemies, to torches that can be used to ignite enemies. These building blocks can even be combined to form larger machines, such as a bulwark that can block an enemy's path. The constructed items are permanent until they are destroyed by Kemono. Players can also build Karakuri to aid in a transversal. However, building Karakuri consumes thread, which can be acquired by simply attacking enemies. As the player progresses through the game, they will unlock new weapons and armor, allowing them to take on more challenging monsters. The game's narrative campaign is estimated to take about 30 hours to complete. Players can team up with two other players as they progress through the game, allowing for a more cooperative experience.
The protagonist of Wild Hearts is a fearless and determined young woman named Alex. She is an accomplished motorcyclist and a master at performing death-defying stunts.
