Manobala, a veteran actor and director, passed away on May 3 in Chennai due to liver-related ailments. He had been undergoing treatment at his residence for the past two weeks.

The news of his demise has come as a shock to the Tamil film industry. Manobala was famous for his impeccable comedic timing and his ability to make fun of himself. He had a successful career of over 35 years, having acted in more than 900 films.

Manobala, a renowned Tamil actor, comedian, director, and producer, passed away at his Chennai residence at the age of 69. He had been suffering from liver problems and had undergone angio treatment earlier this year.

Since then, he had been receiving medical attention at his home in Saligramam. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his illness today. Manobala began his career as an actor and assistant director in Bharathiraja's 1979 film Puthiya Vaarpugal.

He went on to direct 24 films, starting with the 1982 movie Agaya Gangai, which starred Karthik and Suhasini. Among his notable directorial works are Parambariyam featuring Sivaji Ganesan, En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan starring Vijayakanth, Oorkavalan featuring Rajinikanth, Malluvetti Minor starring Sathyaraj, and Pillai Nila starring Mohan.

On Wednesday (May 3), veteran Tamil actor, comedian, and director Manobala passed away in Chennai at the age of 69 due to liver complications. The news of his demise has left many film personalities saddened, who expressed their condolences on Twitter.

It is reported that Manobala had been receiving treatment for about two weeks in a private hospital and had also undergone a cardiac procedure in January. Manobala started his film career in the early 1970s and worked as an assistant director for Bharathiraja's 1979 film Puthiya Vaarpugal.

He went on to act in numerous roles, ranging from comedian to character actor to comic villain, in hundreds of films, primarily in Tamil cinema, but also in Telugu and Malayalam films.

Following the news of Manobala's sudden death, Superstar Rajinikanth expressed his grief on Twitter in Tamil. The 'Robot' star wrote, "The passing of my dear friend Manobala, a famous director and actor, has deeply saddened me.

My condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace." Film producer Dr. Dhananjayan also tweeted his condolences, saying, "The demise of my student Manobala is an irreplaceable loss for me and our Tamil film industry... It's shocking and unbelievable that such a sweet person and good friend Manobala sir has passed away.

Heartfelt condolences to the family. May his soul rest in peace." Actress Radikaa Sarathkumar, a close friend of Manobala, expressed her sadness and disbelief, saying, "I am so heartbroken.

Just this morning I called and enquired where he was to go and visit him. Shared so much with him professionally and on a personal level. He was a talented person who could adapt well to all situations. Will miss him."
