Jared Hassim sat down with the After the Island podcast nearly a week after being dumped from the villa to discuss his experience on the show and future plans with Katherine "Kat" Gibson. The couple appeared happy in the August 2022 interview and considered each other to be their first real romantic relationship.
She did, however, announce their decision to divorce in a September 2022 Instagram story post. She stated that they both chose to “take some time apart from each other” in order to "focus" on themselves. Despite their split, Kat insisted that they are "still very close as friends."
Jared added nothing to his story after reposting her statement. It's unclear when they split up because they were last seen together on September 8 at Hyde Sunset for dinner.

Jared was featured on Kat's YouTube channel in a video titled My Boyfriend Tries ASMR before they split. Jared also posted an Instagram photo of the two out to dinner. It's heartbreaking to see another Love Island USA couple break up, especially since Kat left the villa to be with Jared after failing to connect with anyone else. Fortunately, the two are still on good terms, and it's possible that they'll find their way back together. In any case, there are far more love opportunities in the real world for them than there were in the Love Island USA villa. There is no explanation given by them for the break up yet.
Who Is Kat Gibson?
Kat is the youngest of the three newcomers to the show on the August 3 episode. She is from Manassas, Virginia, and used to be a competitive ice skater. Kat was able to ask two islanders on a date to begin her time in the villa. She chose Isaiah to prepare her entree and Chazz Bryant to prepare her dessert.
Viewers saw how Kat's date with Isaiah went, but they'll have to wait to see if she has a similar connection with Chazz.
