Assassins Creed Mirage
Assassin's Creed Mirage is the thirteenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and published by Ubisoft. Serving as a successor to 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the game is an action-adventure experience. It is released on October 5, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and will be available on iOS for iPhone 15 Pro models in early 2024.
The game is primarily set in 9th-century Baghdad during the anarchy at Samarra, where players follow the journey of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character first introduced in Valhalla. Basim undergoes a transformative journey from a street thief to a full-fledged member of the Assassin Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, known for fighting for peace and liberty, stands in opposition to the Templar Order, who seek peace through control.
This installment is hailed as a return to the series' roots, with a stronger emphasis on linear storytelling and stealth gameplay compared to recent installments, which leaned heavily into role-playing elements.
Assassins Creed Mirage Gameplay
Assassin's Creed Mirage is a return to the series' roots, emphasizing a linear, story-driven experience with reduced role-playing elements. Core gameplay includes parkour, close-quarter combat, and stealth, utilizing a "Black Box" design for assassination missions. Set in 9th-century Baghdad and Alamut, the game's world is more compact compared to recent titles, focusing on four districts and the fortress headquarters of the Hidden Ones. The protagonist, Basim, wields an array of weapons and tools, upgradable through a skill tree. New features include "Assassin Focus" for simultaneous eliminations and traversal options using poles. Enhanced mobility animations draw inspiration from samurai, ninja, and Jedi movements.
Assassins Creed Mirage Plot
In the time of the Abbasid Caliphate, Basim Ibn Ishaq is a young thief in the city of Anbar. He has troubling visions of a scary jinni, but his friend Nehal helps him through it. Basim dreams of joining the Hidden Ones, a group fighting for justice, but the senior Hidden One in Anbar, Roshan, says no. To prove himself, Basim steals a chest both the Hidden Ones and the Order of the Ancients want. Inside, he finds a strange disk that shows him a vision.
The Caliph interrupts and Nehal saves Basim by killing the Caliph. Guards then attack the thieves in Anbar, and Basim blames Nehal and leaves. With Roshan's help, he escapes to the Hidden Ones' mountain fortress at Alamut. There, he trains and becomes a Hidden One. The Mentor, Rayhan, learns the Order is gaining power in Baghdad, and sends Basim and Roshan to investigate.
In Baghdad, Basim learns that the Order has infiltrated the highest levels of power and is after ancient artifacts. He hunts down and stops four Order members. He also reunites with Nehal, who pushes him to investigate further. Basim confronts the last Order member, Qahiba, who hints at answers lying in a temple beneath Alamut.
