The Storm Glider is a massive creature in the world of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It has really big wings that help it soar through the sky for long distances by catching rising air currents. Although it's not very nimble in flight, it can spot prey on the ground and quickly dive down. Once it reaches its target, it knocks it down and stings it with a sharp, poisonous tail.
Storm Gliders aren't the smartest creatures and sometimes mistake moving vehicles for prey. They are most dangerous when hunting in pairs, especially when raising their young. After stinging their prey, they either carry it to a high ledge or eat it right there, using their tail to fend off other predators. These creatures are usually on their own but come together in pairs for a short time to raise their offspring. In the Pandora wilderness, encountering a pair of Storm Gliders hunting together is one of the most perilous situations.
Interestingly, the young Na'vi called Zeswa play a daring game using kites shaped like Hammerhead creatures. To defeat a Stormglider in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you need to be careful, especially if you're flying on your Ikran. The Stormglider can sense you on the ground but is more likely to attack if you're flying. If you aggro a Stormglider while flying, it can knock you off your Ikran with a strong aerial attack.
To survive this encounter and get a clean kill, try to land on solid ground quickly. Keep a distance from the Stormglider as it will pursue you aggressively, launching forward and slamming back down. To increase your chances of success, use a Heavy Bow for its powerful fully charged shot. Unlike a Shortbow, a charged shot allows you to aim precisely and shoot at the right moment.
The weak points of a Stormglider are its gills on either side of the base of its neck. It can be challenging to line up the shot due to the creature's speed and aggression. A good opportunity to strike is right after it performs a wing swipe attack. The Stormglider remains mostly still for a couple of seconds after this move, giving you a chance to hit it with a fully charged arrow and take it down. Once you've defeated the Stormglider, you can harvest valuable resources from it, including Stormglider Tooth, Stormglider Horn, and Stormglider Lean Meat.
