Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world action-adventure game released in 2023, based on the Avatar film series. Developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, the game is available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S since December 7, 2023. It is the second video game in the franchise after Avatar: The Game (2009) and received mixed reviews, often unfavorably compared to Ubisoft's Far Cry series.
In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players explore the Western Frontier of Pandora, experiencing its beauty and danger in a first-person perspective. Developed in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, the game immerses players in the world of Pandora, where they awaken as a strangers after being abducted by the RDA as a child. With the RDA once again threatening Pandora and its clans, players must reconnect with their lost heritage and fight to protect their home.
The story follows a Na'vi lead character confronting the encroachment of the Resources Development Administration (RDA), featuring new characters in a standalone installment. While expanding the Avatar universe, the game does not serve as a direct sequel to Avatar: The Game or a movie tie-in but rather explores new aspects of the universe alongside the upcoming sequel films.
Despite being canon, the game does not have significant crossover with the films, although minor elements like Frances Ardmore are mentioned. Set in the Western Frontier continent of Pandora, the game features various areas including the Kinglor Forest, home to the Aranahe clan of weavers; the Upper Plains, where the Zeswa clan reside and teach direhorse riding; and the Clouded Forest, home to the Kame'tire clan of healers.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Gameplay
In the game, players control a Na'vi orphan who was trained as a soldier by the Resources Development Administration (RDA) and wakes up sixteen years later in an abandoned facility. The story is connected to the films but is standalone. The game supports two-player cooperative multiplayer.
Players explore the Western Frontier of Pandora, organizing Na'vi tribes to resist the RDA's exploitation of natural resources. Pandora is divided into three regions with unique biomes, quests, and inhabitants. Using "Na'vi sense," players can highlight interactable objects and enemy weak points. They have access to RDA weapons like assault rifles and Na'vi weapons like bows and arrows. Better gear is unlocked as players progress, enhancing combat abilities. Crafting materials collected in the wild can be used to craft ammo and other items.
Players can hunt animals for resources, but using firearms prevents resource collection. Defeating RDA troops and helping Na'vi allies earns "Clan Favor," which can be used to buy rare weapons, armor, and crafting materials. The player character is agile, able to perform advanced acrobatics like double jumping. They can also ride ikran, flying creatures, for fast travel.
