Bachelor in Paradise Season 9
The ninth season of Bachelor in Paradise debuted on September 28, 2023, and marked the return of Jesse Palmer as the host. The show was filmed in the charming town of Sayulita, nestled in Vallarta-Nayarit, Mexico. Wells Adams also made a remarkable sixth consecutive appearance as the bartender.
A noteworthy change for this season was the shift from its typical Monday and Tuesday schedule to Thursday. This alteration was due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, following the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor.
In a special twist, former Bachelorettes Hannah Brown, Katie Thurston, and Charity Lawson graced the season with their guest appearances.
Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 Episode 5 Ending Explained
It's been five weeks, and they're having only their second rose exchange. The guys are really nervous because it looks like five of them might go home. Some guys are trying really hard to make a connection. I'm wondering why Aaron S. didn't leave with Sam earlier.
But, just when Aaron S. and Sean are hoping for something good to happen, the people who make the show give them a chance. Sam Picco, who was on Canada's Bachelor in Paradise, comes to the beach to give out a rose tonight. This is a big surprise, and it confuses everyone because they don't know who she is. But the guys just want her rose.
Sam talks to a few guys, starting with Sean, then Aaron S., John B., and Peter. They're all trying to impress her. Sean gives her a drink, but she doesn't like that he's younger. Peter compliments Sam's looks, even though she's only 34. After all the guys try to win Sam's rose, it's time to find out who she picks.
Kylie gives her rose to Avan, Rachel chooses Brayden, Eliza picks Aaron B, Jess selects Blake, Kat gives her rose to Tanner, Olivia goes with John Henry, and Mercedes picks Tyler, which solves some love triangles. Surprisingly, Sam chooses Peter, and this means Sean, Will, John B., and Aaron S. have to leave. The next day is Kat's birthday, and she's hoping to celebrate with the group, especially with Tanner. But her excitement doesn't last because she gets two date cards that aren't for her.
Rachel gets the first one and takes Brayden on a date. Then, Davia from Zach's season of The Bachelor arrives with another date card. She asks Tanner on a date after just one conversation, and Kat gets upset. Tanner tries to explain, but Kat is angry because she thinks he should have made up his mind already.
Kat decides to end things with Tanner, even though she went on a date with him without talking to Brayden first. The others try to comfort her and encourage her to enjoy her birthday, but she throws her birthday cake into the ocean.Tanner seems fine on his date with Davia, even though he feels bad about missing Kat's birthday. Rachel and Brayden come back from their date covered in paint and paper mache, not knowing about the drama on the beach.
The group decides to play truth or dare, and things get interesting and messy. Tension goes up when Jess hesitates to say that Blake is her top choice right now, which confuses their relationship.
The next morning, everyone is waiting to hear about Tanner and Davia's date and still thinking about the truth or dare game from the night before. Davia tells the girls that her date with Tanner went well. They warn her that Tanner and Kat might be stronger than he said. Kat tells Davia that they didn't talk about being exclusive, but she's not sure if she wants to keep things going with Tanner. It's up to Tanner to figure things out.
Tanner talks to Kat, but we'll have to wait until next week to see what happens. The previews suggest that Kat might not be happy with the outcome and might be getting close to John Henry, which could upset Olivia.
Bachelor in Paradise Season 9 Plot
The show begins with an unequal number of women and men, with more women than men. During the first rose ceremony, the men are given roses to give to the women they want to spend more time with in paradise. Women who don't receive roses are immediately sent home.
Then, new men are introduced to the beach, and at the following rose ceremony, women have the opportunity to give a rose to a man they'd like to get to know better, while the remaining men are sent home. This cycle of introducing new participants, alternating between men and women, continues for seven weeks.
ABC officially renewed Bachelor in Paradise for its sixth season on February 5, 2019. On August 5, 2019, the series was renewed for a seventh season, which aired on August 16, 2021.
In June 2021, it was confirmed that rotating guest hosts like Lil Jon, Tituss Burgess, Lance Bass, and others would take over hosting duties for the seventh season, replacing the original host, Chris Harrison. On April 7, 2022, ABC renewed Bachelor in Paradise for an eighth season, with Jesse Palmer as the new host, and it premiered on September 27, 2022.
