Interface

1. When you encounter an enemy, it's important to know what you're up against. To do this, simply right-click on the enemy to examine them. 
2. As you travel with your companions, you'll notice that sometimes an "i" appears above their heads. This means they have something to say about the current situation. 
3. If you're anything like us, you probably have a lot of stuff in your inventory. To help you sort through it all, there's a button at the top of the party inventory screen and to the left of "Showing Consumables" that will sort your entire inventory. 
4. The log is a great resource for keeping track of all the details of your adventures and combat. To access it, simply right-click the pane on the bottom right of your screen.
5. If you have a lot of scrolls and other usable objects, it can be helpful to store them in bags. These can then be accessed via your hotbar, making it easy to use them in the heat of battle. 
6. If you want to switch between your torch and your weapon quickly, try equipping the torch to your offhand (the slot below your main hand weapon) on a character that uses one-handed weapons only. 
7. Another helpful way to keep your inventory organized is to use backpacks. You can use these to group items together (e.g. one for food, one for scrolls, etc) and keep everything tidy. 
8. Finally, if you need to get from camp back to where you were prior (which is often necessary after cutscenes), use the map screen to "leave camp." 

Combat

1. Before engaging in combat, it's a good idea to cast buffs on your party members to make them more sturdy and/or offensive. Early game, Mage Armour and Bless are good choices. You can cast these spells outside of combat to give your party an advantage once the battle starts.
2. Whenever possible, start combat with a stealth attack. This will ensure that your party gets a free round of attacks during the surprise round, in addition to the stealth attack. This can often make all the difference in a tough fight.
3. The advantage is a powerful mechanic in Baldur's Gate 3, and you should try to employ it at every opportunity. Some easy ways to get an advantage are to hide before you attack, position yourself behind or to the side of an enemy for a backstab, or get high ground. Using advantage can significantly increase your chance of success in combat.
4. Activating turn-based mode before combat begins will allow you to set up your party's positions and get the first move before the enemy. This can give you a significant advantage, especially in tougher fights.
5. Bodies can be thrown in Baldur's Gate 3 for "free" damage. If there are corpses lying around during a fight, consider throwing them at your enemies for some extra damage.
6. You can use potions on your allies by using the Throw action. If two allies are close enough together, you can even heal them both at once. This can be a useful way to keep your party healthy during a tough fight.
