Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 is a video game made by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch, and it came out in 2022. It's the third game in the Splatoon series, following Splatoon 2. Like the other games in the series, it's a shooter game where players use ink for battles. You can play with others online or go through a single-player campaign.
The game was first shown in a teaser trailer on February 17, 2021, and it was released on September 9, 2022. People generally liked the game, especially for its new maps, single-player mode, ways to customize things, and how the battles work. But some people didn't like the matchmaking and connection problems, and they felt there wasn't enough new stuff. By the end of December 2023, Splatoon 3 sold 11.71 million copies worldwide. That makes it the fastest-selling game in the series and one of the best-selling games on the Nintendo Switch.
Splatoon 3 Gameplay
Splatoon 3 is a game where you play as either an Inkling or an Octoling, and it's all about shooting ink. The characters use different weapons that shoot colored ink, and these weapons can be things like big paint rollers or sniper rifles. Each weapon has its own strengths and limitations. For example, paint rollers are great for covering a lot of ground up close, while sniper rifles are good for shooting opponents from far away but not as good at covering the ground with ink.
In the game, you can choose your main weapon, which does the shooting, and a sub weapon, which is like a secondary weapon that uses more ink. There are also special weapons that you can use after covering the ground with enough ink. Inklings and Octolings, the characters you play as, can turn into a squid or octopus to swim through the ink quickly and climb up ink-covered walls.
This is called the "swim form." Using this form helps recharge the ink ammunition for your weapons faster than when you're in human form. The game has lots of different weapons, and all the basic ones from the previous Splatoon games are in Splatoon 3 too.
Splatoon 3 Plot
After following an elderly squid named Craig Cuttlefish into a dangerous crater filled with Fuzzy Ooze, the player becomes Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon. Teamed up with their pet Salmonid Smallfry, they battle mutated Octarian enemies led by DJ Octavio, who accuses Cuttlefish of stealing the Great Zapfish. As the story unfolds in the underground city Alterna, Agent 3 discovers that Mr. Grizz, CEO of Grizzco, kidnapped Cuttlefish and is behind the Zapfish theft and Octarian army. Mr. Grizz plans to use the Fuzzy Ooze to turn life into mammals and revive Earth's mammal population.
In a series of encounters and battles, Agent 3, alongside Deep Cut, uncovers Mr. Grizz's destructive plan. The story climaxes with a confrontation at a rocket in Alterna, where Cuttlefish's life is seemingly drained by Mr. Grizz. The rocket, rigged to cover the Earth in Fuzzy Ooze, poses a threat to all life. In a heroic effort, Agent 3, aided by DJ Octavio and a transformed Smallfry, defeats Mr. Grizz and destroys the rocket. The Great Zapfish is recovered, and Cuttlefish is revived with the help of the Captain's tears. The story ends with Mr. Grizz floating in space during the credits.
