Bird Box Plot

In a world ravaged by an apocalyptic event, Malorie Hayes finds herself in a desperate situation. With unwavering determination, she imparts a somber warning to two young children, emphasizing the importance of keeping their blindfolds on as they embark on a treacherous journey down a river in a humble rowboat. The consequences of removing their blindfolds, she cautions, would be fatal.

The narrative takes us back five years, where a pregnant Malorie encounters her sister, Jessica. As they go about their lives, news of unexplained mass suicides begins to permeate through Europe and Asia, spreading fear and confusion. A harrowing incident at the hospital unfolds before Malorie's eyes, with a woman ruthlessly battering her head against a window.

The horrifying chain reaction continues, engulfing others in a wave of suicidal madness. Amidst the chaos, Malorie and Jessica attempt to escape, but tragedy strikes as Jessica succumbs to the maddening horrors and meets a tragic end. Left to fend for herself, Malorie embarks on a harrowing journey, eventually seeking refuge in a stranger's house. Here, she encounters Tom, a kind-hearted individual who becomes her ally.

The house shelters a group of survivors, including Douglas, Greg, Cheryl, Felix, Charlie, and Lucy. Charlie reveals a chilling revelation, stating that these cataclysmic events are a manifestation of divine judgment, marked by the appearance of malevolent entities. These entities, known by different names in various cultures, elicit terror and provoke a desperate battle for survival.

To protect themselves, the survivors cover the windows and blindfold themselves whenever they venture outside.  The fragile balance within the group is disrupted when Olympia, a pregnant survivor, seeks shelter with them. Greg valiantly volunteers to test indirect observation of the entities through surveillance cameras but tragically succumbs to their influence.

In an attempt to restock supplies, a portion of the group sets out to a grocery store with Malorie, where they encounter a frenzied attack by one of Charlie's coworkers. Charlie selflessly sacrifices himself to ensure the others' safety. Despite the loss, they manage to return to the house. However, Felix and Lucy betray the group, stealing the car and leaving them behind.

The sanctuary faces a new threat when Olympia lets a stranger named Gary into their midst, against Douglas's better judgment. Gary reveals his escape from a group of deranged survivors, who have succumbed to madness after glimpsing the entities. Chaos ensues as Gary's true intentions are unveiled, leading to a series of tragic events that include Douglas's temporary confinement, the birth of Olympia and Malorie's babies, and Gary's escalating insanity.

The situation reaches a breaking point as Gary forces Cheryl to face the entities, resulting in her untimely demise. Douglas manages to escape the garage, wounded but determined to protect the group. A fierce confrontation between Gary and the others ends with Tom emerging victorious, assuring Malorie that all is well.

Fast forward five years, and we find Tom and Malorie living together with their two children, known simply as "Boy" and "Girl." They receive a message from survivors, sharing news of a hidden community nestled in the forest, accessible only by navigating the treacherous river.

As they set out, they encounter a group of unblindfolded assailants, who launch a violent attack. Tom valiantly sacrifices himself to ensure Malorie and the children can escape, revealing the horrifying truth of the entities in his final moments.

Blindfolded and reliant on their senses, Malorie and the children embark on a perilous river journey, carrying with them the precious birds whose agitation warns of the entities' presence. They confront numerous obstacles, including an encounter with an unblind.
