The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes are a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1984. They've released eight studio albums, four live albums, and some popular singles. They got a record deal in 1989 and released their first album, Shake Your Money Maker, in 1990. Their second album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, reached the top of the Billboard 200 in 1992.

They released a few more albums like America (1994), Three Snakes and One Charm (1996), By Your Side(1999), and Lions(2001), but these didn't reach the same success as their first two. They took a break from 2002 to 2005, then came back, toured, and released Warpaint in 2008, which did well on the charts.

In 2010, they released a greatest hits/acoustic album and went on a 20th-anniversary tour. They took another break but came back in 2019 for a 2020 tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker. By then, only Chris and Rich Robinson remained from the original lineup.

As of August 2023, the band includes the Robinson brothers, longtime bassist Sven Pipien, and new members Nico Bereciartua (lead guitar), Cully Symington (drums), and Erik Deutsch (keyboards). Their latest album, Happiness Bastards, came out in March 2024.

The Black Crowes have sold over 30 million albums and are considered one of the greatest hard rock bands. Melody Makers called them "The Most Rock 'n' Roll Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World," and in 1990, Rolling Stone readers voted them Best New American Band.
