BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Gameplay

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is a 2D fighting game with an emphasis on tag team mechanics. In its primary game modes, players engage in 2-vs-2 matches, where they control one of their two selected characters at a time and can switch between them at will. The game features a standard fighting game meter that players consume to execute special and EX moves, as well as an assist meter, which is another resource.

With enough meter, players can employ their second character to perform assist attacks to prolong combos, keep the opponent at bay, or, alternatively, expend all the meter on a "Cross Burst" to evade hazardous situations. Similar to Marvel vs. Capcom, the match continues even if one character on the team loses all their health, and it only ends when both are defeated.

In order to accommodate the tag mechanics and improve the accessibility of character learning, the controls in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle were simplified compared to the mainline BlazBlue games and other participating series. Furthermore, every character was provided with a set of universal options, such as an overhead attack activated by the heavy button, an invincible reversal attack, and auto combos.

Similar to Capcom Fighting Evolution, each participating site in BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle has unique universal traits and features from their respective home series. For example, the Persona side has the Persona system, the French-Bread game titles side has Reverse Beat chain combo functions, and the Akatsuki Blitzkampf side has Reflector, among others.

Some of the mechanics from the home series have been reworked and simplified for this game, such as Persona Break on the Persona side, where the user now takes damage on their health bar when their Persona is hit by an attack, similar to Persona 4 The Animation.

The game offers a range of single-player and multiplayer modes, including a story mode, arcade mode, survival mode, and online multiplayer. The game's vibrant visuals and upbeat soundtrack add to the overall experience, making it an enjoyable and engaging fighting game for players of all skill levels.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Crossplay

Arc System Works will be holding an Open Beta for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle on both PC and Xbox consoles. The cross-platform network beta will begin on March 2nd and will be available to players on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Windows platforms. The purpose of this beta is to address any issues and work out any kinks before the title is released on these systems. Xbox players will be pleased to know that they won't require any subscriptions or passes to participate in the beta, as the developers are looking to get as many players as possible to test it out.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle does not currently support crossplay between different platforms 1. However, there have been discussions among the community about the possibility of adding cross-play in the future. Some players have expressed the desire for crossplay to be added to the game, particularly between the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game.

To all game modes, including Tutorial, Episode Mode, Training Mode, and more, as well as online matches. A total of 53 characters, including previously released DLC characters, will be available to select from. It's important to note that only Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows are eligible to participate. This beta serves as a precursor to the full release of Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows, which is slated for release this spring.
