According to the police, 29-year-old Baker, a resident of South Boston, failed several field sobriety tests after being pulled over and was subsequently arrested for drunk driving. He was later released on a promise to return to court and will be arraigned at a future date in Peabody District Court.

Baker was taken to the Danvers barracks by state police following his arrest, where he was booked and later released on personal recognizance and a bail amounting to $40.

The incident took place on Saturday at around 8:15 p.m., when a state trooper responded to a report of a Volkswagen Jetta being driven erratically on Interstate 95 south, before Walnut Street in Lynnfield. Peabody Police had located and followed the car after receiving a complaint from another driver. Andrew Baker is set to appear for his arraignment at Peabody District Court on a later date, as per the State Police.

In June 2018, Andrew Baker, also known as "A.J." and son of then-governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker, was accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger on a JetBlue flight from Washington, D.C. to Boston. However, the case was not pursued by prosecutors.
