Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is a free-to-play online first-person shooter game made by Bungie. It started as a paid game in 2017 but became free in 2019. It's available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The game is set in a sci-fi world with both cooperative and competitive gameplay. Players, called Guardians, use special powers to protect humanity from aliens and the Darkness. The game has PvE missions, including strikes and raids, and PvP modes with different objectives.
Guardians explore various locations, participate in public events, and interact with NPCs. The original Destiny lacked NPC interactions outside social spaces, but Destiny 2 changed that.
Expansions like Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light add to the story and content. Some expansions are standalone, and a free-to-play version, New Light, includes the first two expansions. Seasonal passes provide additional content, but some content requires purchase.
Year Four saw significant changes, with half of the game's initial content moved to the Destiny Content Vault. Beyond Light introduced Darkness powers, starting a new era for the game. The Witch Queen and Lightfall followed in 2022 and 2023, with The Final Shape concluding the "Light and Darkness Saga."
Destiny 2 got positive reviews for story improvements, gameplay, visuals, exploration, multiplayer, and public events. Opinions varied on weapon changes, the Leviathan raid, and new modes. The game received awards at events like The Game Awards 2017 and Game Critics Awards.

Destiny 2 Gameplay
Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter game with role-playing and multiplayer elements. It's free-to-play and has both player versus environment (PvE) and player versus player (PvP) game types.
In PvE, players explore different planets, completing missions, public events, and adventures. The game has a map to help navigate and discover areas. Flashpoints, Faction Rallies, and end-game activities like Nightfall strikes and raids offer high-level rewards. Players can also join factions, competing in Faction Rallies for rewards.
Character progression involves gaining experience points (EXP) to level up and improve statistics. There are three classes: Warlock, Hunter, and Titan, each with unique abilities and subclasses. The game introduces Stasis, a new power tied to Darkness, with modular customization.
Weapons and armor are categorized as Kinetic, Energy, and Power. Gear can be infused to increase Power level, affecting damage and defense. Armor 2.0 introduced randomized attributes and mods, impacting abilities and playstyle. Seasonal artifacts and mods further customize abilities.
PvP in the Crucible features various game modes, including Trials of the Nine and Iron Banner. Quickplay modes can be six-versus-six or four-versus-four. Trials of the Nine rotates between Countdown and Survival modes, with unique rewards.
Gambit, a PvPvE mode, has two teams collecting motes, summoning blockers, and invading opponents. Gambit Prime, a variant, adds more strategy and challenges. Season of the Hunt merged both versions into a single activity.
The game receives expansions adding content, story, and new abilities. Shadowkeep brought Armor 2.0 and the Moon location. The Witch Queen introduced glaives, weapon crafting, and new perks. Lightfall introduced Strand, a new Darkness power.
Destiny 2 offers a mix of cooperative and competitive gameplay, allowing players to explore, fight against aliens, and engage in thrilling PvP battles. The game's ongoing updates and expansions keep the experience fresh for players.
Destiny 2 Plot
In Destiny 2, the story begins with an attack by the Cabal Red Legion on the Last City, destroying the Tower and draining the Traveler of its Light. The player's Guardian loses their powers but eventually restores them with the help of a shard of the Traveler. The Guardian then embarks on a journey to counter the Red Legion's threat, uncovering their plans to use a superweapon called the Almighty to destroy stars.
With the assistance of allies like Cayde-6, Ikora Rey, and Zavala, the Guardian thwarts the Cabal's efforts, ultimately confronting the Red Legion's leader, Dominus Ghaul. Ghaul seeks to take the Light by force and, in a climactic battle, corrupts it. However, the Traveler awakens, destroys the device harvests its power, and defeats Ghaul, sending a shockwave that restores Light to all Guardians.
In the post-credits scene, mysterious Pyramid-shaped ships are revealed approaching Earth, setting the stage for future events. The Leviathan, a massive Cabal ship, also appears, under the control of the exiled Emperor Calus, leading to additional challenges for the Guardians.
The ongoing content introduces various expansions, such as Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and Lightfall. These expansions explore encounters with the Darkness, new powers like Stasis, alliances with unlikely factions, and the return of characters like Emperor Calus. The narrative unfolds as the Guardians face threats and mysteries across the solar system, ultimately leading to a confrontation with a powerful entity known as the Witness.
The story continues with the Guardians confronting Savathûn, Oryx's sister, who wields the power of Light and poses a significant threat. The Guardians navigate her Throne World, battling the Lucent Brood and uncovering the deception that led to the creation of the Hive.
Lightfall brings back Emperor Calus, now aligned with the Witness and introduces the Pale Heart, a space within the Traveler. The expansion is part of the "Light and Darkness Saga," marking the culmination of Destiny's first major arc over ten years.
The Final Shape, set for release in June 2024, promises a conclusion to the saga, featuring events within the Pale Heart and the return of Cayde-6. Despite challenges and delays, the Destiny 2 narrative continues to evolve, keeping players engaged in the ongoing struggle between Light and Darkness.
