On Tuesday morning, Enoch Burke returned to Wilson’s Hospital School, despite being dismissed by the school last Friday from his teaching position. Burke arrived at the school at 8.38 am, when he was dropped off by his dad, Seán.
Last Friday, Burke was present at the Co Westmeath school and was informed of his dismissal by principal Frank Milling and board of management chair John Rogers.
It followed a disciplinary meeting on Thursday, held at the Mullingar Park Hotel by the school, which was repeatedly disrupted by Burke and other members of his family.

Under school disciplinary procedures, Burke, the history, and the German teacher have ten working days to appeal the outcome of the disciplinary process.
Burke failed to get an injunction stopping the disciplinary process against him last week, after refusing to provide an undertaking pledging to abide by court orders prohibiting Burke from teaching at or attending the school in Multyfarnham.
He spent more than a hundred days in Mountjoy Prison last year for contempt of the order restricting him from attending school.

Burke was suspended in September on full pay pending the disciplinary hearing, following an incident where he questioned the former principal of the school publicly over an earlier direction from her to teachers to address a transitioning pupil by their preferred name and using the pronoun “they”.
