For his work as the bailiff on the 2012–2016 courtroom drama Justice For All with Judge Cristina Perez, Renard L. Spivey is most known to audiences. When he wasn't on television, he was a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston.
However, Spivey, 63, was arrested on Monday and booked into the Harris County Jail on a murder suspicion.

Authorities said that after conducting additional investigation, they discovered the body of his wife, 52-year-old Patricia Ann Marshall Spivey, who had been shot.
Spivey reportedly told police that he and Patricia were fighting over his alleged steroid use, according to the charging documents that were read in court on Monday. The two quarreled over a gun in the bedroom closet, said Spivey. There were at least three shots fired, striking Patricia twice and Renard once.
After posting a $50,000 bond, a Harris County Sheriff's deputy who had previously played a bailiff on a courtroom drama was freed from custody on Wednesday.

According to KHOU-TV, Renard allegedly told police during an interview that was recorded on a body camera worn by an officer, "We were arguing and tussling with the gun." All day long, we had been arguing.
When Was Spivey Arrested?
On Monday, July 29, 2019, he was arrested for the murder of his wife, Patricia Ann Marshall Spivey.
Renard claimed that throughout the day, he and Patricia battled over their lack of closeness. They allegedly quarreled over a gun that went off during their fight, killing Patricia.
Patricia was discovered dead in the closet of the master bedroom when the police arrived. Near Patricia's body, authorities found her cell phone and cartridges. On top of a laundry basket, there was also a 9-mm handgun.
She sustained two gunshot wounds, one to her arm and one to her heart, as well as wrist contusions.
Renard had a gunshot wound to his leg, so he was brought to a nearby hospital. He said that during their fight, Patricia shot him in the leg.
Where Is Spivey Now?
Spivey was accused of murder, and because of his background in law enforcement, the government has asked for a large bond sum. But the judge increased his bail to more than $800,000.
Authorities also asked for a large bond, arguing that Renard's record as a peace officer and his familiarity with guns made him a flight risk and a serious threat to the neighborhood.
