God of War Alfheim Wiki

Alfheim is one of the Nine Realms of the World Tree, which is home to both Light and Dark Elves and serves as a significant location in God of War (2018). The Light of Alfheim is a power source for the Bifröst, which allows for travel between realms through Týr's Temple. The possession of the Light has been a source of conflict between the Light and Dark subraces for centuries, resulting in over two hundred changes in ownership. When the Light Elves control the Light, their realm is illuminated with a blue light, while the Dark Elves' possession results in a red-tinted sky.

However, it appears that the Vanir god Freyr gave the Light Elves the longest period of control over the Light by becoming their overlord, which was potentially why the Light remained in their possession. When Freyr disappeared, the Dark Elves took advantage and reclaimed the Light, causing Alfheim to grow dim. Kratos and Atreus were brought to the Elf realm by Freya to obtain a portion of the Light, but the Dark Elves prevented access to it, resulting in a conflict that ended with the defeat of the Dark Elf King and the return of the Light to the Light Elves, causing Alfheim to shine brightly once again.

God of War Alfheim Walkthrough

The Light of Alfheim quest begins with the Witch being pulled through a mysterious portal, and Kratos and Atreus must navigate a new dimension filled with obstacles and enemies. Along the way, they must sever tendons blocking their path using the Leviathan Axe and rely on Atreus' arrows to defeat dark elves. They discover new areas such as the Lake of Light and Light Elf Shore, where they encounter Draugr and Wurms. By exploring and defeating enemies, they can collect items such as Muspelheim Cipher Pieces and Spoils of War. To progress, they must solve puzzles and strategically use their abilities to defeat enemies and overcome obstacles.

God of War Alfheim Guide

Tyr's Bridge

As you cross the bridge, look out for glowing runes on the right side, which is the first lore marker. On the right of the marker, a wooden chest can be found after you free it using an axe throw at a root node. After defeating the first set of dark elves, take an immediate right and descend the stairs to discover a legendary chest with a Symbol of Shadows enchantment.

Light Elf Shore

At the Lake of Light, follow the left shore to find the Light Elf Shore. After defeating the nightmares and draugr, search to the right of where the boat is parked to find Spoils of War artifact 1. Proceed through the tunnel next to the road fragment to discover a chest with a Frost Giant’s Frenzy heavy runic attack. Toss your axe at the root node blocking your path and jump across the gap to reach the legendary chest.

Light Elf Sanctuary

The Light Elf Sanctuary can be found at the southeast corner of the Lake of Light. Proceed along the right path until you reach a switch and gap. Throw the switch and rush through the gate before it closes, then defeat the Tatzelwurm. Solve the Nornir chest puzzle by ringing the third, sixth, and first bells to receive an Idunn apple. In the next area, destroy the root nodes and cross the root bridge, then aim your axe throw to break all three root nodes and reveal a tunnel. Follow the tunnel to discover Spoils of War artifact 2.

Ringed Temple Trench

In this section, the player will have to fight multiple dark elves after descending into the trench. It is essential to defeating them to proceed. Once they are taken care of, the player should look for hanging hacksilver above the doors on their right and left. The room on the right cannot be accessed, so they should head into the left room and throw the switch to trigger a draugr. The player should collect the hacksilver from the left room and enter the draugr's cell on the right. They can throw their axe down the passage to the middle cell, recall it, and destroy the root nodes blocking the way. This will grant them access to a legendary chest containing Thiazi's Talon heavy runic attack.

Return to Light Elf Shore

Return to the Light Elf Shore and head to the ruin on the left to shoot the three crystals on the floor and reveal a realm tear. Fight off the two level 4 draugr that emerge and claim your Pure Essence of the Realms. Remember that you can't collect everything on your first trip through Alfheim, but can return later and get everything else. To find everything, paddle through the Lake of Light, hug the left bank, dock your boat as indicated, and open the Hidden Chambers door.

Valkyrie Olrun Boss

Fight Fill your Runic and Spartan Rage meters before the fight. Use back-to-back Runic attacks at the beginning and wait for Olrun to descend from her winged cocoon before attacking. Use Spartan Rage to inflict damage and restore your health. Bring a Resurrection Stone to come back to life if you die. Olrun has two types of wing-based attacks and a strong vertical leap and stomp. Dodge and attack during vulnerable moments to defeat her and earn Olrun's Helmet, the Ivaldi's Corrupted Mind Epic enchantment, the Waist Guard of the Valkyrie Epic waist armor, and Asgardian steel.
