Green Day Band
Green Day is a well-known American rock band originating from California's East Bay back in 1987. The band was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, along with bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. Initially called Sweet Children and previously Blood Rage, Green Day found their footing within the Bay Area punk scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, emerging from Berkeley's 924 Gilman Street club.
Their early music journey involved independent label Lookout! Records, but it was their major-label debut with Reprise Records, "Dookie" in 1994, that marked a significant breakthrough, shipping over 10 million copies in the U.S. Following their breakout success, albums like "Insomniac," "Nimrod," and "Warning" didn't match the meteoric heights of "Dookie" but still achieved significant success. Their defining moment came with the rock opera "American Idiot" in 2004, which connected deeply with a younger audience, selling millions of copies.
