Hell Let Loose

Hell Let Loose is a video game where players battle infamous World War II locations like Western Europe, North Africa, and Eastern Europe. It's a first-person shooter game, meaning you see the game world through the eyes of your character, and it focuses on teamwork and strategy at the platoon level.

Originally, an Australian studio called Black Matter started making the game and got funding through Kickstarter in 2017. They raised $220,000 from backers. The game first came out for PC in June 2019 as an early access title, which means it wasn't fully finished yet. It was officially released in July 2021. Later, in October 2021, it became available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In January 2022, Black Matter sold the game to Team17, the company that published it. Then, a new studio called Cover 6 Studios took over development in 2023. They continue working on the game, making updates and improvements for players to enjoy.

Hell Let Loose Gameplay

In Hell Let Loose, battles are huge, with 50 players on each side, fighting as different World War II factions like Germans, Americans, Soviets, British, and others. Players can join rifle squads, tank crews, or reconnaissance squads, each with its own job.

There are two main game modes: Warfare and Offensive. In both, teams try to capture and control different parts of the map called sectors. In Warfare, you win by controlling all sectors or most when time runs out. In Offensive, one team starts with all sectors, and the other tries to take them before time's up.

Communication is super important. Players can talk using voice channels, typing messages, or using a special leadership channel for officers. The game also has a strategic side inspired by real-time strategy games.

Each faction has a commander who manages things like deploying vehicles, airstrikes, and supply drops. Players can build resource nodes to get more supplies for their team, but enemies can destroy them. It adds a layer of strategy to the battlefield.

Hell Let Loose Plot

Hell Let Loose is made using Unreal Engine 4. It took about two years of work after the Kickstarter campaign to get the game ready. It was launched on Steam as an early-access game on June 6, 2019, which marked the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings in World War II. Then, in July 2021, it was fully released. The game also became available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 5, 2021.

The last big update for the game in 2022 was called Update 13. The developers said it made the console version (the one for PlayStation and Xbox) just as good as the PC version. It's important because it means players on all platforms get the same experience when playing the game.
