Hogwarts Legacy gets New Update on PS5

A new update has been released today for Hogwarts Legacy on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. Since the game's launch last month, developer Avalanche Software and WB Games have only put out one major update. Although the initial release was relatively polished and didn't require significant updates, Avalanche has now released a vast number of fixes for the title, focusing on addressing various bugs and glitches that players have reported.

The second post-launch update for Hogwarts Legacy is currently available for download and installation. The patch mainly focuses on fixing random bugs, crashes, visual issues, and performance problems that players have encountered. As a result, Avalanche has significantly improved Hogwarts Legacy, making it an even better product than before.

We have addressed various bugs on PC Online, including 

• Improvements to player account network registration and tracking. 

• Fixed issues related to DLC in the pause and gear menus, 

• As well as a problem with flying mount inventory potentially disappearing during a mission."

Hogwarts Legacy Update Patch Notes

The new update had been released for the Hogwarts Legacy On March 8, 2023.

The following issues have been fixed in the game Hogwarts Legacy:

Gameplay and Missions:

• Fixed a blocker issue with the bandit camp cage unlocking before starting the mission.
• Fixed a quest completion issue during a conversation with Madam Kogawa when she was missing from her desk.
• Fixed avatar getting stuck between a barrel and furnace, duplication collision, waypoint positioning, objective marker placement, missing exit prompt, and quest progression for butterfly chests.
• Fixed a stability issue in the Spoons in the Potion's classroom and issues with Astronomy class and Crossing Wands missions.
• Fixed shields not displaying correctly during Crossing Wands missions.

Broom Flight:

• Fixed issues with player getting trapped while mounting a broom or rotating a statue, landing on the Viaduct bridge, and mesh breaking after teleporting.

Hogwarts Legacy World Events:

• Fixed wagon carts clipping and One Man Band duplication in Hogsmeade.

Hogwarts Legacy Characters:

• Fixed issue with characters not having hair.

VFX:

• Fixed broom speed parameters, enemy shield display and disappearance, visibility of constellations, and Dark Wizard Extortionist AOE lightning VFX attack.

Hogwarts Legacy Audio:

• Fixed audio of waterfall, updated soundbanks, and resolved localization and VO selection issues.

UI:

• Updated localization strings, fixed female avatar face appearance, transition between purchase window and conversation, map path, damage representation, tracking for Room of Requirement, Ansel issue, and UI controller icon display.

Cinematics:

• Facial animations have been updated.
• The NPC treadmilling during the House Cup has been fixed.
• Blurred texture and LOD pop issues have been resolved.
• Avatar robes will now appear after Fig makes them appear before the sorting ceremony.
• Localized VO now plays correctly when "Original Audio" is set.
• Black flickering on characters' faces has been fixed.
• Graphical glitches with Fig's head have been fixed.
• Shadow flicker in a tea cup has been fixed.

Raytracing:

• Stability and performance have been improved after long play throughs.
• VFX performance during raytracing has been improved.
• Performance has been improved by batching and caching raytracing buffers.
• Fog volumes have been removed for better BVH performance.

Save Game:

• Talking to vendors during sequential saves after the issue was patched is now possible.
• Streaming in and out after getting the 'Dung Bomb' field guide and loading a manual save has been fixed.
• An issue when turning off the title and loading an auto-save during final credits causing an infinite loading screen has been fixed.
• Voice pitch setting save issues with the avatar have been fixed.

Performance and Stability:

• Streaming issues throughout Hogwarts have been fixed.
• Crashes related to the common room, skeletal mesh, deflection impacts, reading dictionary files, and other areas have been fixed.
• Performance issues when using ancient magic squash finisher on elevated Thornback Ambusher in Rune Door arena have been fixed.
• Rendering performance of translucent objects has been improved.
• Memory leaks have been fixed.
• Occlusion culling issues have been resolved.
• Performance drops experienced during longevity of the game have been fixed.

Miscellaneous:

• "Special Thanks" credits and legal lines have been updated.

PS5:

• Character lip-sync animation issues when "Original Audio" is set have been fixed.
• LED effects on controllers have been improved.
• Activities performance update and memory usage have been improved.
• Game Help hints and videos have been updated.

XSX:

• Black flickering on characters' faces has been fixed.
• Graphical glitches with Fig's head have been fixed.
• Shadow flicker in a tea cup has been fixed.
• Frame rate performance issues when dismissing the contextual menu have been improved.
• Fidelity mode performance for smooth 30 FPS experience has been improved.

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy, a role-playing game developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label, is set in the Wizarding World universe. It takes place in the late 1800s, a century prior to the events depicted in the Harry Potter novels. In this game, the player assumes the role of a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who learns to master a variety of magical abilities and objects, aided by fellow students and professors. The game involves uncovering an ancient secret of the wizarding world.

Avalanche Software was acquired by Warner Bros. in 2017, and Hogwarts Legacy is their first release since the acquisition. The development of the game began in 2018, and although pre-release gameplay footage was leaked on the internet that same year, the game was officially announced in 2020 and was highly anticipated. Prior to its release, the game faced controversy due to J.K. Rowling's views on transgender individuals and allegations of including antisemitic themes, leading to calls for a boycott. The game was eventually released on February 10, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, with plans for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later in the year.
