Honkai Star Rail 1.4 Best Character Tier List
Given below are some of the best characters, and their abilities in each of the tier.
Best Overall (SS Tier):
Bronya
Bronya's skill is quite useful as it can remove one ally's harmful effect and allow them to take their turn earlier by 100%. In simpler terms, it lets you switch to a character who's already had a turn, effectively giving you two opportunities to use a DPS, healing, or support ability. Furthermore, her Ultimate and Technique abilities provide an attack and critical damage boost for the entire team, making her a valuable addition to most parties in Star Rail.
Luocha
Luocha is a distinctive Abundance character in the game. What sets him apart is that his healing power is linked to his attack strength. When he accumulates two Abyss Flower stacks, he creates a special Field that heals allies when they launch their attacks.
While his Ultimate doesn't heal, it inflicts Imaginary damage on all enemies and removes one of their buffs. Once you invest in his Traces, Luocha becomes the game's top passive healer. All you need to do is keep attacking, and your team will naturally heal without the need for Skill Points. Since healers are crucial in challenging battles, Luocha proves to be a valuable addition to any team in need of healing support.
Fu Xuan
Fu Xuan can become a highly valuable character in Star Rail when you focus on boosting her health stat. She serves as a protective tank for your team. Her Skill allows her to absorb damage that's intended for other team members. Moreover, when her health drops below 50%, her special talent comes into play, and she can heal herself. As long as you manage this talent wisely, Fu Xuan can effectively prolong your team's survival during battles.
Best DPS (S Tier):
Blade
Blade is a remarkably strong character to include in your team. He uses his own HP to increase the damage of his attacks and can also heal himself. Essentially, he combines the qualities of Harmony, Abundance, and Destruction characters. However, it's crucial to be cautious in managing Blade's health.
Even though he can self-heal, it's advisable to have a healer in your team to ensure Blade's survival during battles. When paired with the right teammates, Blade stands out as one of the game's top attackers. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that he falls into the category of high-risk, high-reward attackers.
Clara
Clara is an intriguing character in the game, but to make the most of her abilities, players need to carefully plan their team composition. Clara's companion, Svarog, retaliates with an attack whenever Clara is struck. This highlights the importance of having a reliable shielder or healer in Clara's team, as keeping her alive is crucial for Svarog to unleash his powerful Physical attacks. By drawing enemy attacks towards Clara and ensuring her survival, players can maximize their overall damage output with her.
Bailu
In Star Rail, healers play a crucial role in most combat situations, particularly in prolonged battles such as boss fights or the Simulated Universe. The character's Skill for healing is highly effective as it can restore health to multiple allies. Additionally, the character possesses a passive ability that allows them to revive a fallen ally once per battle. This makes them an excellent choice as an Abundance character to have in your team.
Gepard
Gepard is a character well-suited for single-target or two-target battles because of his ability to freeze enemies and cause ongoing ice damage. His Ultimate ability is a standout feature as it provides shields to the entire party. Gepard's Talent is also valuable; it allows him to revive once after being defeated.
In shorter battles, he can sometimes take the place of a healer because freezing enemies prevents them from attacking, which means you can use another support or damage-dealing character. However, when paired with a healer, Gepard becomes an even more effective choice for longer and more challenging battles.
Best Support (A Tier):
March 7th
March 7th is a versatile character who can keep your team safe, even when facing enemies not vulnerable to Ice attacks. She offers multiple ways to protect your team. She can create a protective shield for a teammate using her Skill, which can be used to divert enemy attacks to a specific character.
When a shielded ally is attacked, March 7th automatically counterattacks, and her Ultimate ability can freeze groups of enemies. She excels in longer battles, allowing your damage-dealing characters to handle enemies while she holds the front line. By improving her abilities in the Simulated Universe, you can make her an even more valuable character.
Natasha
Natasha is a vital character for players without other healers, especially early in the game. Her abilities focus on healing. Her Skill can heal one teammate and remove one harmful effect from them, and her Ultimate heals the entire team. Although she lacks flashy powers, her role in healing is crucial for tackling various challenges in the game.
Himeko
Himeko is a character in the game who specializes in dealing area-of-effect (AOE) damage. If her allies exploit enemy weaknesses, she can perform follow-up attacks. She's particularly effective when facing several enemies vulnerable to fire.
However, she's not limited to AOE damage; her high-damage Skill makes her strong in single-target situations as well. Her Ultimate ability unleashes a powerful blast of Fire damage and also restores her Energy. This means she can recharge her Ultimate ability quite rapidly, especially when equipped with the appropriate Relics.
Viable Options (B Tier):
Serval
Serval is a straightforward character in the game, making her an excellent choice for players who require area-of-effect (AOE) Lightning damage. Her attacks can shock enemies, and when she hits a shocked enemy, she inflicts additional damage.
While she doesn't offer any other special abilities, her straightforward and effective kit is valuable. Many enemies in the main story, particularly in the early sections, as well as in the Forgotten Hall and Simulated Universe modes, are vulnerable to Lightning damage. This makes Serval a dependable and user-friendly character for dealing with such foes.
Sampo
For those looking for a character in the game who can deal area-of-effect (AOE) Wind damage and apply damage-over-time (DoT) effects, Sampo is a good choice. Sampo's abilities are also helpful for slowing down enemies at the beginning of a battle, giving the player's team more opportunities to take action.
However, it's worth noting that Sampo's AOE Wind damage from his skill can be a bit random and might not hit all enemies. To maximize his Wind damage, players should aim to use his Ultimate ability as often as they can. Sampo works especially well when teamed up with Kafka.
These rankings are based on evaluations of damage output, unique abilities, and overall effectiveness in team compositions. Keep in mind that individual playstyles and preferences may influence your choice of characters.
