As soon as the fight begins, players should turn around and jump down beneath the stairs, where Calus cannot reach them. Players can then shoot at Calus through the cracks in the stairs until his health is nearly depleted. Once Calus has just a sliver of health left, players should look up at the catwalks to the left or right and wait to defeat him until they are up there. Once they have made it onto the catwalks, players can continue shooting at Calus until his health reaches zero, triggering phase 2 of the fight.
During second phase, Calus will yell at the Witness and a purple bubble will cover the area. Players should use the Strand Grapple to grapple up onto the bubble when they receive the Joining Fireteam countdown. From on top of the bubble, players can shoot at Calus and his minions while dodging fire and remaining in the center of the bubble to avoid being teleported in. Eventually, with enough time and bullets fired, Calus will be defeated and the bubble will disappear, ending the fight.
After employing the cheese strategy to defeat Calus, players can enjoy the new Strand subclass.

The final boss of the Desperate Measures mission in Destiny 2 Lightfall is Calus. This fight has two phases, and it can be challenging, especially if you're playing solo in Legendary mode. But with some preparation and strategy, you can beat Calus and complete the mission.
Phase 1:
The fight with Calus starts at the Veil, with him standing at the end of the area. He won't attack you until you approach him, so take your time to get familiar with the area.

Once you make it on top of the catwalks, shoot Calus until his health reaches 0. This will start phase 2 of the fight, which is more difficult.
During Phase 2, Calus will yell at the Witness, and then a large purple bubble will cover the area. When this happens, players will notice they will start receiving the Joining Fireteam countdown. At the first sign of this, use the Strand Grapple to grapple up on top of the purple bubble.
If done successfully, you will now be on top of the purple bubble, and Calus will be running around underneath – unsure of what to do. While there are openings inside of the bubble, they are actually hard surfaces, so you can walk along the bubble and find good openings to fire down on Calus and his minions.
You will simply need to dodge fire and chip away at his life, making sure to stay up in the center of the bubble to avoid being teleported in. With enough time and bullets fired, Calus will meet his maker and the bubble will disappear.
After defeating Calus, players will drop down into the arena below and the fight will be over. Congratulations on completing the Desperate Measures mission in Destiny 2 Lightfall!
