What is Bean Valley Super Mario RPG?

Bean Valley is a big area in the game Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. It's on the way to Nimbus Land and looks like a fall-themed place with lots of orange plants. There are many pipes around, and one of them takes you to Grate Guy's Casino, a secret spot. Towards the end of the ground part of Bean Valley, Mario has to fight Megasmilax, a huge Piranha Plant with many heads, helped by Beezo. Once you beat Megasmilax, a new path opens up. It leads to a small area with a floating brick. If you hit the brick, a beanstalk grows, and it takes you to the Big Vine, which leads you to Nimbus Land.

How to Get to Bean Valley in Super Mario RPG?

Begin in Monstro Town, talk to Monstermama, and find a special 'star' on the second floor of her house. After some chatting, you'll be on your way to Bean Valley.

The Route to Bean Valley:

  • Go back to the desert part of Land’s End.
  • You can walk through the main map or take a shortcut through Belome Temple (pay 100 coins to the springboard guy).
  • Aim for the spot just before entering Belome Temple; there's an exit to the north.

Climbing the Cliff:

  • Meet Sergeant Flutter and his Sky Troopas along a steep cliff.
  • Jump from one Sky Troopa to another to go up the cliff.
  • Be careful with your jumps and watch out for shells above.
  • Sergeant Flutter gives you rewards based on your speed:
  •  12 seconds or less: Troopa Pin (only one)
  •  12 to 11 seconds: Frog Coin
  •  11 seconds or less: 5 Frog Coins

Going Up the Beanstalk:

  • Hit a block on the next screen to grow a huge beanstalk.
  • Climb to a cloudy area, jump onto the vine, and keep going up.
  • Check different paths for stuff:
  1. Blue beanstalk: Free Frog Coin.
  2. Red vine: Treasure chest with a Flower.
  3. Orange vine on the left: Another Frog Coin.
  4. Try climbing the challenging orange vine for an extra Frog Coin and a Defense Scarf/Rare Scarf accessory.

Reaching Nimbus Land:

  • Go back down and climb the green vine in the previous area.
  • Find two trampolines.
  • Jump on the leftmost springboard to finally get to Nimbus Land, where you're likely heading for the next Star Piece.

Bean Valley Treasures & Tips:

  • Best team: Mario, Mallow, and Peach.
  • Give Mario the Troopa Medal/Troopa Pin for better stats.
  • Stinger enemies are good for experience.

Hidden Treasures:

  • East Pipe:

    • Take the east pipe, walk west, and jump to find a hidden chest with a Frog Coin. Enter the other pipe in this area.
  • Southern Pipe:

    • Use the southern pipe for a treasure box with a Flower. Then, go back through the pipe and take the northwest exit for a room full of pipes.
  • Piranha Plant Pipe #1:

    • Beat the Piranha Plant in the lower-right pipe, play the slot machine, and jump into the left corner for another hidden treasure with a Croaka Cola/Kerokero Cola.
  • Piranha Plant Pipe #2:

    • In the southeast corner, defeat another Piranha Plant, jump down to find a Surprise Box with Red Essence, and exit the pipe. Head north to find a save block.

Before you keep going, make sure you've got Safety Rings or Trueform Pins equipped. Head north out of the area, and you’ll run into a Beezo watering a Piranha Plant, setting up a boss battle.

Super Mario RPG

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a video game made by Square and Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1996. It's the last Mario game for SNES. The story follows Mario and friends as they try to stop the Smithy Gang, who crashed into their world and scattered seven star pieces. This game is the first in the Mario series with role-playing gameplay, inspired by Square's Final Fantasy. In battles, you take turns fighting enemies with a party of up to three characters.

It's also the first Mario game with a 3D environment, adding new exploration and platforming elements. Super Mario RPG got great reviews for its humor and 3D graphics. It inspired other Mario RPGs like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi. Originally on SNES, it later came to the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles, as well as the Super NES Classic Edition. Recently, a remake for the Nintendo Switch was released worldwide on November 17, 2023, and it received positive reviews.

Super Mario RPG Gameplay

In Super Mario RPG, the gameplay is a mix of classic Mario platforming and traditional Japanese role-playing elements. The game has two main parts: exploring the world and turn-based battles. When not in battles, the game looks like a 3D platformer with Mario doing familiar things like hitting question blocks. Unlike some RPGs, there are no surprise fights; you can see enemies on the map, and you only battle them if you touch them. This lets you avoid fights you don't want.

At the beginning, you control Mario, but your party grows to include up to five characters, each with unique skills. For example, Princess Toadstool can heal, while Geno and Bowser focus on powerful attacks. The battles are turn-based, where you choose actions like attacking or using items. What's cool is the "action commands," where you time button presses to make moves more effective. This mix of Mario-style exploration and RPG battles makes Super Mario RPG a unique and fun game.
