Mena Suvari and Greyston Holt play a dysfunctional married couple who locked their six children away in their house in the movie House of Chains. The cast is completed of actors playing kids of different ages, including Natalie Jane, Carina London Battrick, Callum McAllister, Aias Dalman, Madeleine Kane, Isla Grimes, Owen Irvin McCullough, Hudson Wurster, Joey Carson, and Grayson Taylor-Day. Is House of Chains Based on a Real Story?
Yes, House of Chains is based on the true story of David and Louise Turpin. The Turpin case made headlines in 2018 when their 17-year-old daughter escaped from their home in California and called the police to report that she and her siblings had been held captive and tortured by their parents. When the police arrived at the home, they discovered 12 of the couple's children, ranging in age from 2 to 29 years old, malnourished and living in squalid conditions. The Turpins were arrested and eventually pleaded guilty to charges of torture, false imprisonment, and child abuse. They were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in April 2019.
House of Chains Ending Explained
Six of the Turpin’s children were kept with a foster family after they were rescued from the residence of their original parents. According to some sources, ChildNet knew the Turpin family had a history of physically and psychologically abusing children but nevertheless decided to place the Turpin children there. Thousands of dollars in donations were also sent to the Turpin siblings, but they are unable to access them since the funds are held in a trust that is under the jurisdiction of a court-appointed public guardian. Regrettably, the events of the Turpin family are the basis for this tale. 13 kids total were born to David and Louise Turpin. They suffered abuse from their parents and were not given food or care. The children would occasionally be handcuffed. The parents were given a life sentence with a 25-year parole eligibility period. But the abuse of some of those terrible kids continued long after they were removed from that awful residence. Six of the Turpin siblings sued Riverside County, California, and the foster care organization ChildNet in two separate cases in July 2022. Six of the children were placed with a foster family after being rescued from the residence of their original parents.
