"In 1979, Texas NWA Heavyweight Champion Kevin Von Erich grapples with family dynamics, worrying that his father, WCCW owner Jack "Fritz" Von Erich, is steering his youngest brother Mike away from his musical dreams. Kevin and David make their wrestling debut in a tag-team match against Bruiser Brody and Gino Hernandez, where Kevin begins a relationship with Pam. He reveals the family's "curse," linked to tragedies and Fritz changing their last name.
In 1980, Kerry's Olympic dreams are dashed, and he returns home, urged by Fritz to join Kevin and David in wrestling. The trio claims victory against the Fabulous Freebirds in 1983. Tragedy strikes when David dies in Japan. Kerry replaces him, defeating Ric Flair but losing his foot in a motorcycle accident.
