Who is Jeremy Vine?

Jeremy Vine is a well-known English television and radio personality, presenter, broadcaster, and journalist. He gained popularity as the host of his BBC Radio 2 lunchtime program, which features news, views, live guest interviews, and popular music. Vine took over the show from long-time host Sir Jimmy Young in 2003.

Apart from his work on BBC Radio 2, Vine is also known for his role as the host of the quiz program Eggheads on Channel 5 (formerly BBC Two), which he took over from Dermot Murnaghan in 2014. He has also appeared as a contestant on the 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. In September 2018, he began presenting his own Channel 5 daily current affairs show, which is named after him.

Vine was born in Epsom, Surrey, and grew up with two siblings, a sister, and a brother. He attended Lynton Preparatory School in Ewell, Aberdour School in Burgh Heath, and Epsom College. During his college years at Durham University, he was a member of the sketch comedy group The Durham Revue and served as an editor of the student newspaper, Palatinate.

Before joining the BBC in 1987, Vine completed a journalism training course with the Coventry Evening Telegraph and worked briefly for Metro Radio. His father, Guy Vine, was a lecturer in civil engineering at North East Surrey College of Technology, and his mother, Diana, was a housewife and later a doctor's receptionist.

Is Jeremy Vine ill?

Jeremy Vine, the host of a Channel 5 show, had contracted COVID-19 in 2022. Although he is now leading a healthier life, he disclosed that he experienced mild symptoms after attending the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium despite being fully vaccinated. Vine urged others who were present at the event to get tested, believing that there may be a large number of undetected cases.

Vine further added that he was not surprised that he contracted the covid 19 virus, given the large crowds and lack of social distancing at the match. Despite his mild symptoms, Vine stated that the experience was a reminder of the importance of taking precautions and getting vaccinated. He encouraged his viewers to do the same, emphasizing that vaccination is crucial in protecting oneself and others from the virus.

This is not the first time Jeremy has been absent from the show, as he has taken time off in the past for holiday and due to injuries. The show is known for its lively debates, topical discussions and interactive segments, making it a popular daytime program. Vine has been the show's host since 2018, and has also served as a presenter on BBC Radio 2 and BBC News.

Who is presenting Jeremy Vine Show?

Vanderpuije has been in this role since October 2021. Other stand-ins for Vine have included Anne Diamond and Storm Huntley, who have both filled in on several occasions.

She has also worked as a journalist and radio presenter before joining Channel 5. Vanderpuije previously worked as a newsreader on the BBC's Newsround program and hosted a podcast for the Guardian. She has also presented on BBC Radio London and BBC World Service, as well as worked as a reporter for ITV News. Vanderpuije is well-regarded by audiences for her engaging style and insightful interviews on the show.

The journalist and presenter revealed Nick Ferrari will join the show as a guest host. Ferrari took the role for one week only. Jeremy said: "Monday for one week only we're going to be on air for another hour. Because there's so much to talk about here, right?"
