Listeners of BBC Radio 2 were surprised this morning when Zoe Ball, the regular host of the Breakfast Show, was absent. The veteran broadcaster typically hosts the early morning slot on weekday mornings from 6.30 to 9.30 am.

However, on Monday, Zoe was suddenly replaced by former Radio 1 DJ Vernon Kay. Zoe, aged 52, received an outpouring of support on Twitter as she shared an update about her illness and thanked Vernon for stepping in.

Informing her 400,000 followers about her Covid diagnosis, Zoe said: "So I've got Covid... But the good news is that Vernon Kay is taking care of you all @BBCRadio2," accompanied by a Face with Medical Mask emoji. "I'll be back soon," she added with hope. Zoe's friends and fans were disappointed to hear that their favorite voice would not be on the airwaves this morning. Now she has started Radio 2.

Zoe Ball, the presenter of BBC Radio 2's Breakfast Show, has fallen ill with Covid-19 and will not be hosting her regular show. In her absence, fellow radio host Vernon Kay will take over.

The 52-year-old announced the news on Twitter on Sunday night, alongside a picture of herself, Rylan Clark, and Kay. After sharing the news, many fans and celebrities expressed their well wishes. In the comments, Louise Redknapp wrote, "Hope you're OK lovely."

Zoe Louise Ball, born on November 23, 1970, is a British radio and television presenter. She made history as the first female host of both the Radio 1 Breakfast and The Radio 2 Breakfast Show for the BBC. Ball co-presented the children's show Live & Kicking in the 1990s with Jamie Theakston from 1996 to 1999.

Ball competed in the third series of Strictly Come Dancing. She then replaced Claudia Winkleman as the host of the BBC Two spin-off show, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two in 2011, until her departure in 2021. In addition, Ball hosted the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour in 2011 and 2015.
