Kris Aquino is currently facing not just four, but five autoimmune diseases, with the potential for a sixth, according to her recent health update on Instagram. Sharing a video of herself receiving her first dose of medication in her doctor's clinic, Kris revealed that she started taking a "baby dose" of methotrexate approximately 13 hours prior.
Methotrexate is a medicine used to treat cancer, psoriasis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Upon arriving in the US in 2022, Kris received the news that her existing three autoimmune conditions had increased to four: chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, and Churg Strauss, now known as EGPA, a rare and life-threatening form of vasculitis.
Despite starting a new biological injectable medication, Kris's blood allergen levels remained high. After her lead doctor at UCLA presented the evidence of her elevated inflammatory numbers and ANA, Kris made the decision to begin her "baby dose" of methotrexate, which will be gradually increased in the coming weeks.
She confirmed that she currently has five definite autoimmune conditions, with the possibility of a sixth. In her previous health update, Kris had already mentioned the potential for her autoimmune disease count to be five or six.
Despite her health challenges, Kris was able to enjoy Easter Sunday with friends, including Batangas Governor Mark Leviste, her son Bimby, and fashion designer Michael Leyva. Earlier, Kris's son Bimby had mentioned that she was in stable condition and weighed 103 lbs.

She revealed that she had an adverse reaction to steroids, resulting in hives and bone pain. Unfortunately, opioids like morphine and fentanyl were not an option for pain relief as she is allergic to them as well.
Since the middle of 2022, Kris has been in the United States seeking treatment for several autoimmune diseases. She disclosed her specific conditions, which include chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, Churg Strauss Syndrome or EPGA, and Scleroderma or Crest Syndrome.
Additionally, she mentioned the likelihood of having a fifth condition and a 50% chance of a sixth. Kris shared photos of her children Josh and Bimby, and her fluctuating blood pressure measurements, and proceeded with her birthday message dedicated to her mother, Cory.
Acknowledging her mother's preference for privacy, Kris prayed about her decision to share her health journey publicly. She expressed that despite the challenges, she has received admiration for raising her children with respect and affection, without discrimination.
Kris recounted something her mother had said about finding a successful relationship by finding the male version of herself. She expressed that through her experiences, she now sees her mother's qualities within herself.
Kris stated that she no longer seeks someone to complete her and has embraced her self-worth, echoing her mother's teachings. Kris ended the message by affirming her love and gratitude to her mother, stating, "Yes Mom, I do" know my worth.
