A few accepted that he did not survive the crash, but others thought that he was possibly alive.

Raoul Wallenberg's Disappearance

Raoul Wallenberg was a Swedish architect and businessman. He is well-known for his heroic act of saving Jews from Nazis during the Holocaust. In 1944, he was selected for an important task to aid the Jewish people in Hungary. He gave them Schutz-Pass, which served as passports and saved almost 15,000 lives.

In January 1945, Wallenberg was arrested by Russian soldiers, but no one knew why. It was reported that he passed away due to a heart attack in 1947; however, his actual fate remains unsure.

The Mystery of Roanoke

The Lost Colony of Roanoke is a popular unsolved puzzle in American history. It happened in the late 1580s on Roanoke Island, which is presently in North Carolina. The colony was established by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1585. Governor John White set up another settlement in 1587 and went back to Britain to get supplies. But when he returned in 1590, the entirety of the colony had vanished. There were no signs of the colonists anywhere. About 112 to 121 people vanished.

The words "CROATOAN" carved on a fencepost and "CRO" on a tree were only found. People have come up with numerous thoughts about what might have happened to the settlers, but no one knows beyond any doubt. Archeologists have looked for clues, but they haven't found anything conclusive. What happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke remains a puzzle still now

George Mallory's Mystery

George Mallory was an English mountaineer. He also served as Lieutenant in the British Army, during the first World War. He had experience in climbing in England, Scotland and Wales and also engaged in many expeditions in the Alps. He participated in the British Mount Everest reconnaissance expedition in 1921.

Unfortunately, his first two attempts were failed due to extreme conditions. Mallory set out on a third endeavor in 1924. On June 8 of that year, Mallory and Andrew Irvine, set out to reach the summit. But they never returned, leaving everybody pondering what happened to them.

Years later, in 1933, Irvine's axe was found at a high altitude. In 1999, Mallory's body was found at a lower elevation, adding more mystery to their story. The vanishing of Mallory and Irvine on Everest remains one of the most noteworthy secrets in mountaineering history.

The Curious Case of Al-Hakim

Al-Hakim wbi-Amr Allah ruler of the Fatimid dynasty. He ruled the empire between 996 and 1021. He ruled for 25 years. During his time as a ruler, Al-Hakim did things that were both liberal and harsh. 

One night in February 1021, when he was 35 years old, Al-Hakim rode out of Cairo on his horse, and he was never seen again. No one knows what happened to him, and his body was never found.

Wallace D. Fard's Disappearance

Wallace D. Fard was the founder of the religious and political organization, Nation of Islam. From 1930 to 1934 he remained the leader of NOI in Detroit. During this time, he had some trouble with the law. Fard claimed he was born in Mecca, but it is claimed that he was actually from New Zealand.  In 1934, Fard vanished mysteriously.

Jimmy Hoffa: The Union Leader's Unsolved Vanishing

Jimmy Hoffa was the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters , which is a labor union in the United States and Canada. He was a clever and determined man who started his career as a union organizer. Hoffa was sent to federal prison in 1964 for tampering with a jury and other crimes.

He resigned his position from Teamsters in June 1971 and was released from prison in the same year. On July 30, 1975, Hoffa went to a restaurant in Detroit for a meeting with other Teamster officials. After that day, no one ever seen him again. In 1982, he was declared dead.

Edward V of England: Lost in the Tower of London

Edward V was the King of England who reigned between 9 April 1483 and 25 June 1483. He was the son of King Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. When King Edward IV died, a controversy got up among Edward V's uncles about whether the king was truly married to Elizabeth. This led to Edward V and his younger brother, Richard, being locked down in the Tower of London.

Sadly, they were never seen again, and it's believed that they were murdered and died at the age of 12. In 1647, skeletons were discovered in the palace, leading numerous people to guess that they belonged to the missing princes. The story of Edward V remains one of the most painful mystery of English history.

Ambrose Bierce: The Vanished Writer

Ambrose Bierce was a famous writer. Bierce also served in the American Civil War and shared his experiences from the war in his most popular stories. Some of his notable works includes The Devil's Dictionary, Tales of Soldiers and Civilians, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, One of the Missing, and Chickamauga.

In 1913, during the Mexican Revolution, Bierce left the United States and went to Mexico. There is no information about what happened to him. Numerous theories have been suggested, but his fate remains a mystery still now.

Bison Dele: The Basketball Star Who Vanished

Bison Dele is a former basketball player played for various NBA teams. He disappeared on July 7, 2002 at the age of 33. He vanished while he and his girlfriend, Serena Karlan went on a sailing trip in the South Pacific. They were with his brother, and a captain on a catamaran named "Hakuna Matata." Shockingly, they never returned from their journey.
