Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, known as MLBB, is a mobile game created by Moonton, a company under ByteDance. It's a multiplayer battle arena game that started in 2016 and became quite famous, especially in Southeast Asia.
The game puts teams of 5 players against each other in live matches. It usually takes only 10 seconds to find a match, and each game lasts about 10 minutes. Players compete in lanes, trying to capture their enemy's tower and protect their own. Unlike some games, MLBB doesn't involve leveling up heroes or paying to play; winning or losing is all about skill and strategy.
Due to its success, Moonton started organizing tournaments like the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL). These competitions act as qualifiers for the Mobile Legends World Championships, making the game a part of the esports scene. In 2019, it was included in the Southeast Asian Games, highlighting esports as a medal event.
Originally named Mobile Legends: 5v5 MOBA, the game faced some criticism when it was first released in 2016. People noticed similarities between it and another game called League of Legends. Riot Games took legal action against Moonton twice, claiming copyright infringement. The first lawsuit was in July 2017, and the second was in May 2022.
