Modern Warfare 3

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a video game released in 2011. It was made by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, and published by Activision. The game came out for different platforms like PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and OS X. It's the sequel to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" and the third and final part of the original Modern Warfare series. In Japan, it was published by Square Enix with both subtitles and dubbing.

The story continues from the end of "Modern Warfare 2." It revolves around Task Force 141, which includes characters like Captain Price, Soap MacTavish, and a new character named Yuri. They, along with other special forces, go after a Russian terrorist leader named Vladimir Makarov. He's responsible for several terror attacks in Europe, leading to a big war between his group and the friendly forces. The game's multiplayer mode introduced new game types and choices for killstreaks. It also fixed some problems from the previous game.

The development of the game began in 2010, involving multiple developer studios. Before this, some key members of Infinity Ward left to start a new company. Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software also joined in making the game. Teaser trailers were released to build up excitement before the full reveal.

"Modern Warfare 3" got good reviews from critics. They liked the gameplay, campaign, and multiplayer, though some thought the story could have been better. It won the award for Best Shooter at the 2011 Spike Video Game Awards. The game was a huge success commercially. It sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. and the U.K. within the first 24 hours, making it one of the biggest entertainment launches ever.

Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is a first-person shooter video game where players take on different roles in the story. The game's story is divided into three parts, called "Acts", with various missions in each. The player sees their objectives on the screen, like reaching a certain point or defeating enemies. The player's health recovers over time if they don't take damage. Missions range from reaching checkpoints to facing enemy groups.

There's a new mode called "Survival", where one or two players fight waves of enemies, which get harder each time. It's different from previous modes as enemies appear based on the player's location, not fixed spots. Players earn in-game cash for items like weapons, upgrades, and support, and can unlock more items with experience points earned by defeating enemies. Another mode, "Special Ops", returns from the previous game with different challenge missions.

In multiplayer, the Killstreak system has changed to Pointstreaks, where players earn points through various actions, not just kills. These points lead to rewards in three categories: Assault, Support, and Specialist. The game also introduced a new ranking and unlock system without using a currency. Players' main weapon levels up as they do, unlocking perks like attachments and reduced recoil. There's also an option to use "Hybrid Scopes" on weapons, allowing players to switch between magnified and regular views.

The game features new modes like "Kill Confirmed" where players collect enemy tags for points, and "Team Defender" where teams fight over a flag. Private matches have pre-made modes like "Infected" and "Gun Game". Additionally, players can create their own game modes. The Special Ops mode includes a wave-based game called "Survival" where players defend against enemy waves, earning money for support options and unlock. The game also had an online service called "Call of Duty: Elite" for multiplayer features and statistics, but it was eventually shut down. Downloadable content provided extra maps and missions for players to enjoy.

Modern Warfare 3 Plot

After the events of the previous game, Soap, and Price are taken to a safe place, but Makarov's forces attack them. Nikolai contacts Yuri, a former soldier who hates Makarov. In New York, Delta Force helps defend against the invasion and destroys a submarine, forcing Russia to retreat.

Months later, Russian President Vorshevsky's plane crashes, and he's captured by Makarov. Makarov threatens to harm Vorshevsky's daughter if he doesn't give up nuclear codes. Chemical bombs are sent to NATO cities, causing chaos.

Task Force 141 learns a warlord and a man named Volk are involved. They capture Volk, who reveals Makarov's plans in Paris. During a meeting in Prague, Makarov kills Kamarov and injures Soap. Soap later dies, revealing Yuri's connection to Makarov.

Price learns Yuri tried to stop a massacre but was hurt. They infiltrate Makarov's base and discover he plans to kidnap President Vorshevsky's daughter. Metal and Task Force 141 rescue her, but Metal sacrifices themselves.

Three months later, Price and Yuri find Makarov in Dubai. They confront him, and after a fierce battle, Yuri is killed. Price manages to defeat Makarov, ending the threat.
