Most Popular TikTok Trends of All Time

TikTok doesn't have set rules for what's popular, but some trends stay popular for a long time. Also, TikTok videos can mix different trends, adding even more creativity. Let's explore some of the most popular and best TikTok trends so far.

Yeehaw Trend

When Lil Nas X's mega-hit album "Old Town Road" was released last year, it grabbed the internet by storm. TikTok played a major role in the song's global success and gave rise to the 'Yeehaw Challenge', which is undoubtedly the most well-known challenge on the app.

The idea behind this challenge is that by drinking a beverage called 'yee-haw juice', a person can transform into a cowboy or cowgirl. When the song started becoming more and more popular worldwide, this skit, which is set to "Old Town Road," went viral on TikTok.

Shoe Change Trend

The 'Shoe Change' challenge was a big trend on TikTok in 2018. People would make videos where they changed their outfits to match a catchy song, and they did it by kicking their shoes into the screen at the right moment.

At first, the challenge started with just changing shoes as people stomped to the song's beat. But then it grew into changing entire outfits and making funny versions of the challenge. It was super popular and got viewed over 12 million times, which was a lot back then considering how much TikTok was growing.

Renegade Dance Trend

The 'Renegade' Dance Challenge is a super popular dance on TikTok. Over 30 million people have tried it! It all started when a 14-year-old from Atlanta named Jalaiah Harmon created the dance in September last year. The dance goes with a song called "Lottery" by K Camp which became a big hit, especially among middle and high school students.

Now, Harmon's dance is famous everywhere and has been performed at talent shows and school events across the country.

Haribo Challenge Trend

There's a fun activity called 'The Haribo Challenge' on TikTok that fans love. It's not a big trend, but it's still worth mentioning. The challenge involves creative planning and editing to make a cute and clever video. In the video, a single gummy bear appears to sing Adele's song "Someone Like You".

Then, more gummy bears join in to create a chorus. It's a cute and clever meme that fans enjoy watching.

Wednesday Dance Trend

In early 2023, there's a popular dance on TikTok inspired by a scene from the show "Wednesday," which is a spinoff of The Addams Family on Netflix. In the show, Wednesday Addams does some unique dance moves at Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts.

Now, people on TikTok are joining in by sharing videos of themselves doing their own version of the dance.

Paper Chain Trend

The paper chain trend on TikTok is easy to understand. Creators show different messages written on paper to the rhythm of a song. The messages can be funny or touching, and there are lots of variations of this trend. Many TikTok users are sharing their messages with their fans in this way.

Ed sheeran ‘Beautiful People’ Trend

Ed Sheeran is loved for his kind personality and great music, especially his acoustic songs. After he joined the TikTok challenge trend with his song "Beautiful People," featuring Khalid. This challenge was all about celebrating the wonderful friends and family in our lives. It became super popular, with millions of views.

This TikTok challenge is safe and touching, so you can even show it to your grandparents without worries. But be ready for some emotional moments and maybe a few tears because it's really moving.

Plank Trend

No one likes doing planks, not even super athletic people. So, it's no surprise that TikTokers made a "Plank" challenge. You could do it alone or with a friend. The goal was to do different plank exercises in 15 or 30 seconds (or 60 seconds if you're really into working out).

This tough challenge made everyone remember their school gym days as it went popular and viral.

Wipe Me Down Trend

A big TikTok trend that happened was the 'Wipe Me Down' challenge. To do it, you just needed to clean a mirror with window cleaner three times. Then, on the fourth wipe, pretend to swipe into another reality for a moment. The challenge used the song "Wipe it Down" by BMW Kenny and got over 21 million views at one time.

It let people have fun pretending to be someone else for a bit.

The Walk in Trend

During the peak of quarantine, there was a trend called the 'Walk in Challenge'. The idea was for women to surprise their partners by walking in naked when they least expected it, like when they were playing video games or watching TV.

This challenge began in 2020 of  March when a TikTok user named Lindsey Bear did it to her boyfriend while he was playing Call of Duty. After that, many women joined in, trying to distract their partners from their games or shows. It became a funny and popular trend of that year.

Level Up Trend

The 'Level Up' is really a fun TikTok trend so far. TikTok users make a wall out of toilet paper and then film either themselves or their dogs jumping over the wall. Each time you successfully jump, you add more layers of toilet paper until you or your dog can't jump anymore. The challenge is set to Ciara's song 'Level Up' and has millions of views all over the world.

The Level Up Challenge and the Flip The Switch Challenge were both popular on TikTok.

Flip The Switch

The Flip The Switch trend was about swapping places with someone else for a funny dance video. People danced to Drake's song 'Non Stop' while switching places and outfits with another person, like turning off the light and then turning it back on to change roles.

It started with Dallin and Bella Lambert and even famous couples like J-Lo and Alex Rodriguez joined in.
