Ten was born in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 27, 1996, to a Thai Chinese family. He attended the Shrewsbury International School. At the age of 15, in January 2011, he participated in the Thai show Teen Superstar, winning under the stage name TNT.
This victory led to an opportunity to sign with the South Korean agency Starship Entertainment, although family considerations prevented him from pursuing it. Eventually, in 2013, Ten joined SM Entertainment after passing an audition in Thailand.

Ten's journey in the entertainment industry started in 2013 when he was introduced as a member of SM Rookies, a pre-debut team under SM Entertainment. He officially debuted with NCT in 2016 as part of NCT U.
