One Piece Odyssey Review
The game genre that would go well with the action-packed world of One Piece, a traditional turn-based RPG in the vein of Dragon Quest, is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind, but as One Piece Odyssey demonstrates, it's actually kind of a great fit. The Straw Hats are an excellent group of RPG characters; the world is well-populated with fantastical and amusing creatures, credits to Eichiro Oda's distinctive art; The story starts with Luffy and his crew being stranded on the enigmatic island of Waford. Then quickly come across two unique characters named Lim and Adio, who understandably harbor a deep mistrust of pirates. The story of Odyssey picks up after the Dressrosa arc (roughly 750 episodes in), and it is not afraid to get deeply involved in some of the biggest surprises of the show. Although One Piece Odyssey's combat is refreshingly straightforward, it does have a downside. You are free to switch characters in even if they aren't currently part of your active party of four characters without using up a turn. You can also see which of your adversaries will be next in line for a turn, so you can try to plan your strategy accordingly.
